It should not come as a surprise to Overstock.com management that their sellers are upset: the company has made a number of significant changes to its auction platform during the busy holiday shopping season, giving little advance notice to sellers. In other news, eBay has rolled out a new initiative to fight the listing of counterfeits on its site (http://www.auctionbytes.com/cab/abn/y06/m11/i29/s01 ). This is a major shift for eBay, which has one of the least restrictive seller-vetting policies among online auction marketplaces. The spirit of the initiative is good, but I hope honest sellers aren't caught in the eBay Trust & Safety implementation machine.
It's also worth noting that during last week's Town Hall event, eBay revealed it would introduce "Feedback 2.0" (no date was given) in which buyers will be able to rate sellers on shipping & handling.
