This & That: Online Auction Roundup
1) Social Shopping with Crowdstorm
By Ina Steiner

Reminder: AuctionBytes-Update does not endorse the products and services featured in the "This & That" column, which often features new Web sites. (Anyone can set up a Web site.) Fraud has become widespread in the online auction world, and you should think twice before giving private information or User IDs and passwords to any third party.

********

Crowdstorm is a social shopping network that helps you find what to buy by measuring the buzz around products, according to the site. You can also see recommendations from friends and people you trust. Founded by Philip Wilkinson (founder of Kelkoo UK and Genie Group), Crowdstorm is fully funded and based in London, England. http://www.crowdstorm.com

2) Win Golf Outing with eBay Prez, Lunch with PayPal Prez
By Ina Steiner

Leukemia and Lymphoma Society will hold an online auction of experiences with eBay executives. One auction winner will win a golf outing with John Donahoe, President of eBay Marketplaces, another will win lunch with Rajiv Dutta, President of Paypal, and another will win an experience with Jim "Griff" Griffith, Dean of eBay Education and host of eBay Radio. Auction kicks off May 6, 2007. http://www.ebay.com/outforblood

3) ETS Relaunches Forums
By Ina Steiner

Steve Klink, co-author of "Dawn of the eBay Deadbeats," has relaunched the ETS online forum. "Like you, we believe in the potential that eBay was built upon and we're committed to fighting fraud, exchanging cash-generating success stories, and keeping an open, honest discussion on how to make money via online auctions." http://www.cybergrinch.com

4) Tip on Troubleshooting eBay Access Problems
By Ina Steiner

Occasionally someone will write telling me they cannot access eBay. If I can access it and haven't heard of any problems, I refer people to a 2-part article David wrote on how to troubleshoot the problem: http://www.auctionbytes.com/cab/abu/y203/m05/abu0094/s03

This happened recently, and the reader wrote back with an unusual solution - I thought I would pass it along in case anyone else ever has this problem: "Everything on the internet worked for me including my e-mail and searches for e-bay but I was not able to get on e-bay. I even went to my lap tops encase I had a bug on my main computer but still no e-bay. Problem was the modem. I just unplugged it then plugged it back in and e-bay worked. Strange that everything else would work but not e-bay. "

5) eBay Radio Program
By Ina Steiner

David White hosts a weekly call-in radio program entitled "eBay and Beyond: Basics to Business" in Jamestown, New York with live streaming audio. Archives are online on the show's website. http://www.internetauctionnewsradio.com

You may quote up to 200 words of any article on the condition that you attribute the article to AuctionBytes.com and either link to the original article or to www.AuctionBytes.com.
