This & That: Online Auction Roundup
1) eBay Apps for Facebook
By Ina Steiner

Reminder: AuctionBytes-Update does not endorse the products and services featured in the "This & That" column, which often features new Web sites. (Anyone can set up a Web site.) Fraud has become widespread in the online auction world, and you should think twice before giving private information or User IDs and passwords to any third party.

AuctionBytes wrote about a few tools developed to help Facebook users shop on eBay (http://www.auctionbytes.com/cab/abn/y07/m06/i13/s03). Thanks to William for pointing to another:

3) Vendio Enhances Shipping Discount Feature
By Ina Steiner

Vendio added functionality to Post Sale (Checkout), adding more options for calculating the shipping charges for multiple purchases, the ability to add a surcharge for USP shipments to AK/HI/PR, and the ability to offer free shipping on BIN or eBay Store purchases. You can read about it on Crystal's blog, a good resource for online sellers, particularly those using Vendio tools.

4) eBay Community Hall of Fame Award Winners
By Ina Steiner

eBay announced the winners of its Community Hall of Fame Awards during eBay Live. You can read about the five winners and see previous winners on the eBay website.

6) Classifieds Sites Are Hopping
By Ina Steiner

In case you hadn't heard, eBay launched its classified site Kijiji in the US. Everyone's wondering about what Kijiji will mean for Craigslist, in which eBay owns about a 25 percent stake. Classifieds are hopping right now. Yellow Pages provider YP Corp. bought LiveDeal (which was founded by a former eBay executive). There's plenty of innovation - there are sites launching that are specifically geared toward "video classifieds", such as http://www.imoondo.com and Realpeoplerealstuff.com. And domystuff.com is a classifieds site for chores. eBay itself has a Classified Ad format and is also creating service categories on its sites, some with special pricing:
