Reading AuctionBytes: AuctionBytes Feature: First Item Sold Online

Do you remember the first item you ever sold online? Let us know by sending an email to ina@auctionbytes.com and we may publish your story. Today we hear from Trish who got hooked on eBay with a 10-cent children's book. Wait til you see what it sold for on eBay!

I will never forget the first item I sold on ebay in 2001.

I was at our local thrift store and an old book caught my eye. The outer spine was missing, and remnants of yellowed scotch tape was across the covers, probly at one time to hold the spine on. I saw that it had been published in 1961 by a French author named Pierre Probst. I thought it looked interesting and they let me buy it for 10 cents. The title was The Treasury of Caroline and her Friends.

I had no idea what I had so I started it out at 99 cents.. I immediately got a bid..the next day it had jumped up to 32 dollars and I decided I better find out what was special so started searching...WOW!!! It sold 7 days later for 376.00 even in the condition it was in so I was hooked on ebay after that.... They still joke with me when I venture into the thrift store (BTW they got a hefty donation from me in honor of that book).
