Do you remember the first item you ever sold online? Let us know by sending an email to ina@auctionbytes.com and we may publish your story. Today we hear from Stef whose first eBay sale set a negative tone for the rest of her online selling experiences.
Hello,
I sold on E bay when it opened. The very first item I sold went to Japan! It was a gorgeous 3 piece Battenburg ivory lace lady's suit. Absolutely stunning and in mint condition. Unfortunately, I didn't even make the money back it cost me.
I continued to sell my collection of various antiques but it was a hard lesson. People were not willing to pay for circa 1800 items. All in all I lost money so after one year and E bay rising costs, I stopped. Now I use consignment shops or sell directly to antique dealers who recognize valuable antiques.
I am still downsizing and have thousands of items to sell but E bay fees have put me out of their market.
Sincerely,
Stef
