This & That: Online Auction Roundup
2) RepXchange.com Manages eBay Blocked Bidder Lists
By Ina Steiner

Reminder: AuctionBytes-Update does not endorse the products and services featured in the "This & That" column, which often features new Web sites. (Anyone can set up a Web site.) Fraud has become widespread in the online auction world, and you should think twice before giving private information or User IDs and passwords to any third party.

********

eBay seller Laurie Borden launched the beta version of this site designed to allows sellers to anonymously pool their blocked bidder lists and extract a new, custom list of blocked bidders that fits their own business profile. Here's what RepXchange says: "Sellers upload their list of blocked bidders to this site. We will pool all these reports and allow other sellers to filter and download user IDs from this pool. The filters allow sellers to download only the blocked bidders that match their preferences. These filters are key to our service. For example, a bidder who's blacklisted by several sellers because she's got a tendency of returning handmade knitwear, might never have been blacklisted by someone who sells electronics. Thus sellers of electronics, for example, can filter and download a list of blocked bidders generated from reports other electronics sellers only. There are many granular variables that allow sellers to create their own unique and download their customized blocked bidders list."

2) SellerDome Analyzes Top eBay Sellers
By Ina Steiner

Add another PowerSeller-tracking site to your list of competitive-research tools, such as http://www.nortica.com/UserArea/Default.asp and http://www.sellathon.com/sellathon10k (some better at staying up-to-date than others!). SellerDome is a new site publishing detailed eBay Seller information for the top 50,000 sellers and ranking the top 1,000,000 sellers. An accompanying blog provides analysis of the data. Site owner Rob Horton, an eBay seller, said, "We had built some tools that pulled some data from eBay about our account so that we could track slight changes in our status to see if different initiatives were working for us. At the same time we were trying to promote our internet store - so we put the two together and came up with SellerDome.com."
