Reading AuctionBytes: First Item Sold Online: Portrait of a Hippo

Do you remember the first item you ever sold online? Let us know by sending an email to ina@auctionbytes.com and we may publish your story. Today, we hear from Ivan who sold a piece of artwork that put a smile on his face.

Hello Ina,
The first item I sold was a giclee, or high quality print, of a hippopotamus I had originally done in black ink and scratchboard. The piece is called "Portrait of a Hippo" and can be found in my eBay store. It's the only open edition print I offer, and also one of my most popular.

People who love hippos are rare but I knew they were out there, and I knew my artwork would appeal to this special group. When it sold first, I just smiled.

Thanks for asking sellers to share about their first sold item!
Take care,
Ivan Chan
