1) eBay Live Auctions Is Closed

Online fraud has become widespread, and you should think twice before giving private information or User IDs and passwords to any third party.

eBay had announced in April it was closing its live-bidding auction platform, and the site is officially closed. The site now redirects visitors to eBay's home page. AntiqueWeek ran an interesting article about the closing and what it means for auction houses.

2) SEO as a Strategic Ecommerce Opportunity

The Yahoo Store blog announced that Exclusive Concepts is holding a free webinar designed for online business owners with an intermediate level understanding of SEO practices. Attendees will learn how to align SEO efforts with core goals; make strategic SEO decisions; and get bigger returns. The free webinar takes place on January 7 at 1pm ET.

3) eBay Runs Auction Promotion (Collectibles, Media Excluded)

eBay announced a selling promotion late on Friday that was unusual in that it was limited to short-duration auctions and excluded the Collectibles and Media categories. The 50-percent off sale runs through the end of January, see website for details and restrictions.

4) New Community Sites for Collectors

Two new community sites for collectors (and yardsalers): writer Dianne Zweig has launched a community site for collectors called I Antique Online, and author Julia Wilkinson created a community site for collectors called YardSalers.
