Do you remember the first item you ever sold online? Let us know by sending an email to ina@auctionbytes.com and we may publish your story. Today we hear from Elizabeth who discovered selling on eBay was the spice of life!
It was 2002, I was recently retired. Like so many, I was reorganizing for "the rest of my Life". Thus, eBay! I listed, and sold, a Copco spice rack consisting of about a dozen glass jars housed in a lightweight plastic hanging rack. All the details were worked out like clockwork. She paid promptly, I carefully packed the plastic rack and the glass jars, and prepared the mailing label.
I am somewhat challenged regarding the state postal abbreviations: I thought AK was Arkansas, it actually is Alaska. I live in New York. This package was traveling all the way across the US and Canada to a small island off the coast of Alaska. An island so small, the map indicated it only had one road. There was insurance on the package, but I worried that it wasn't enough. I worried that package wouldn't be delivered before it snowed; I worried that . . . well, you get the picture!
All my concern seemed to do the job (of course, the post office helped). The package arrived safely, and I got my first feedback - it was positive! Phew! I don't know how I got the strength to carry on!
