eBay reported that Item Specifics in the description section of some eBay listings were showing unintended characters as well as complete changes to information previously input by the user. Some eBay items listed after May 21, 2008, on the US site and after May 23, 2008, on all other sites showed incorrect Item Specifics as well as unintended characters, such as "+", "%", and "&" signs.
eBay said it resolved the issue and that incorrect information would not display on new eBay listings. However, items with incorrect or garbled Item Specifics may still be appearing on the site.
eBay warned buyers to rely on the information provided by the seller in the item description, rather than depending solely on the information shown in the Item Specifics area.
