Mark Carges has joined eBay in the newly created role of Senior Vice President, Platform and will report to CEO John Donahoe. Meanwhile, eBay's Senior Vice President and CTO (Chief Technology Officer) Matt Carey has left for The Home Depot where he will report to the company's chairman and CEO. Prior to eBay, Carey had spent more than 20 years with Wal-Mart.
Carges comes to eBay from the Business Interaction Division of BEA Systems, a leading provider of enterprise application infrastructure solutions that was acquired by Oracle in April 2008. He will be responsible for accelerating eBay's company-wide platform innovation and further opening eBay's platform to outside developers.
