Heritage Auction Galleries will use Inlet Technologies' Spinnaker Professional Streaming Appliance to stream interactive auctions live over the Internet, the company announced this week. The auction house is currently broadcasting live auctions on eBay Live Auctions, but as reported in April, eBay is closing the live-auction platform at the end of the year.
In a press release, Heritage Auction Galleries' Director of IT Brian Carpenter said, "Inlet went above and beyond other vendors to meet our needs under a tight timeline, even providing a renowned Flash expert to assist with the player design. We tested many other solutions before choosing Inlet's Spinnaker. It delivered the best low latency performance, better even than products marketed as low latency, was easily configurable, and the Spinnaker was less expensive too."
