eBay sellers began noticing last week that something was amiss with the invoices their buyers were receiving. It looked like eBay had changed the format of the invoices by removing some crucial pieces of seller contact information.
Sellers began voicing concerns after noticing that invoices sent by eBay to buyers on behalf sellers had a reply email address of ebay@ebay.com instead of the seller's email address. Said one seller, "I am very concerned that eBay is taking a document that my buyers expect from to be from me, and replacing my legitimate contact information - that is my eBay ID and email address - with a dead email - ebay@ebay.com."
Also missing from invoices were sellers' logo, User ID and Store name, according to a discussion board thread started on October 4.
eBay spokesperson Usher Lieberman confirmed it was a mistake. "This is not something that is being done intentionally, it is not a test of any kind. It is an issue we are working to resolve."
