Australian firm Melbourne IT signed a reseller agreement with leading B2B ecommerce company Alibaba.com. The agreement will allow Melbourne IT to expand the range of online services it offers its 340,000-strong small and medium business (SMB) customer base.

"This alliance is an exciting development that will allow us to help our customers tap into overseas markets by leveraging the extensive B2B network that Alibaba.com has established in key supplier markets like China and buyer markets like the US," said Theo Hnarakis, Melbourne IT CEO and Managing Director.

Melbourne IT provides online fundamentals such as domain names and websites as well as specialized services such as email marketing and search engine optimization.

Melbourne IT will sell Alibaba.com's TrustPass service, a paid membership package which helps suppliers stand out in the B2B marketplace. The TrustPass offering incorporates third-party verification and authentication of the seller's business to give buyers confidence. More than 85% of buyers in the Alibaba.com marketplace trade only with TrustPass-verified sellers. In addition, TrustPass sellers typically receive priority listing on the marketplace above free members, have access to buying leads in real time and record up to 12 times the number of inquiries than non-authenticated sellers.
