eBay is discontinuing Dutch Auctions on May 6, 2009, but says it remains committed to Auction-style listings. "We value the format, and will continue to support other forms of Auction-style listings going forward," according to the announcement. eBay said users found Dutch auctions confusing and said it found most sellers were listing multiple items with Fixed Price or Store Inventory formats. "These formats are easier and more cost-effective for sellers and less confusing for buyers." This change only affects auction-style listings with a quantity of 2 or more products. Sellers may list multi-quantity products in Fixed Price or Store Inventory formats.
eBay also told sellers it was extending double discounts for free shipping through June. PowerSellers receive double Final Value Fee discounts on all Fixed Price and Auction-style items with free shipping sold through June 30, 2009, and all sellers receive a free Subtitle upgrade on Auction-style and Fixed Price items listed with free shipping through June 30, 2009.
Starting this month, sellers may choose to receive their eBay invoice in a new summary format or in the current detailed format. The new summary invoice provides an at-a-glance look at billing activity instead of detailing individual transactions. This format includes total amounts for each type of discount, credit or fee. eBay is also offering sellers the ability to have billing-related emails sent to a separate email address.
