Alibris announced it would change the way it paid seller shipping credits, moving to what appears to be a similar model to the one Amazon.com implemented in 2006. Starting May 11, 2009, Alibris will credit the seller the full amount the customer paid for shipping for each item ordered, but will charge the seller a "variable closing fee" for each item ordered - meaning sellers will in effect receive less than the full cost of shipping.
Some Alibris sellers complained about the new policy on the Alibris discussion boards upon reading the announcement.
