Best-selling author Michael Miller has written a new book called, "Selling Online 2.0: Migrating from eBay to Amazon, craigslist, and Your Own E-Commerce Website." In a podcast interview with AuctionBytes, he talks about the new trends he's seeing among small online sellers that prompted him to write the book.
In the interview, Miller explains the challenges that is causing many established sellers to look for an alternative to selling on eBay and discusses whether there is room in the marketplace for the online auction format versus the fixed-price, "Buy It Now" format.
Miller reviews several major product categories and explains which marketplaces work best for each type of product, including antiques and collectibles, clothing, jewelry and electronics.
Should sellers invest in setting up shop on Overstock.com, and what about smaller marketplaces, such as eCrater, Bonanzle, eBid or Etsy? What's the biggest challenge to setting up your own ecommere website? Miller tackles all of these issues and reveals what small sellers are looking for and what they should be doing to take their business to the next level.
