Reading AuctionBytes: Online Marketplace News: Bonanzle, eBid, eCrater, Wigix

Here is a roundup of news coming from online marketplaces and eBay alternatives.

Bonanzle has a new shopping cart system that the company says trades off the option to pickup or use cash, which was not greatly used, for greater simplicity. It has also introduced a new seller invoicing system. (Link)

eBid released some site statistics, reporting that it has 2,440,108 live auctions 9,664 categories, and 8,287 eBid Stores. The auction site will be moving operations to a new Dallas data center, reporting a 250% improvement in page load times for US users and over 200% for the rest of the world in testing. eBid is also running a new system of uploading items to Google Products and told users to expect items to be showing within a couple of hours instead of days, and said they will be listed under seller's Store name or username instead of a generic "eBid.net." (Link)

eCrater said it has added an additional seller information section in the main marketplace product's pages, and added view all product in the product page in the main marketplace. (Link)

Wigix has launched a "Guess the Price" game where users perform a set of actions to unlock clues on the mystery price. If they are able to guess correctly, they can buy the product at that price, starting with three products: Wii Fit, Sony mp3 player and Instinct by David Beckham. (Link)
