ProStores Continues to Offer eBay Checkout Redirect

Reading AuctionBytes: ProStores Continues to Offer eBay Checkout Redirect

ProStores, an eBay subsidiary, will continue to offer eBay Checkout Redirect functionality according to a letter it sent to customers on Tuesday. Customers who sell on eBay can enable eBay Checkout Redirect on their ProStores Web store, but in April, ProStores said it would no longer support Checkout Redirect effective July 15, 2009, due to eBay's new Third-Party Checkout policies.

It appears eBay also granted ProStores an extension for complying with the new policies.

Beginning in September, ProStores' eBay Checkout Redirect will change to eBay-only branding and will remove seller's ProStores store navigation, including merchandising of ProStores store items. The letter to customers reads as follows:

Dear Valued ProStores Merchant:
Good news! We have been able to re-prioritize the build-out of the required changes to eBay Third Party Checkout and will continue to offer eBay Checkout Redirect functionality.

ProStores' eBay Checkout Redirect will continue to function as it currently does until we make the eBay-required changes, which we will implement with our September 2009 release. The main changes at that time will be eBay-only branding and the removal of your ProStores store navigation, including cross-sell/up-sell merchandising of your ProStores store items.

While cross-sell/up-sell merchandising will be going away, we hope you find that this is a good solution that allows you to continue to use Checkout Redirect for the other key functions you told us you needed: payment processing and order/sales reporting consolidation. We also hope you see value in the potential for increased conversions of your eBay sales, which is the goal of the consistent eBay-branded look and feel and the streamlined checkout process.

In addition to continued support of eBay Checkout Redirect, we are working on several highly requested features for the September release. Stay tuned!
Thank you -
The ProStores Team
