eBay's former Vice President of Global Trust and Safety Matt Halprin has joined the Board of Trustees at the Wikimedia Foundation. Mr. Halprin is a partner at Omidyar Network, which gave a $2 million grant to the Wikimedia Foundation, the non-profit organization that operates Wikipedia. Omidyar Network calls itself a philanthropic investment firm that invests in for-profit companies and nonprofit organizations. eBay founder Pierre Omidyar and his wife Pam established the venture capital firm in 2004.
Mr. Halprin joined eBay in 2002 from 15 years at the Boston Consulting Group. While at eBay, he was charged with providing safety and security for eBay Marketplaces globally.
In related news, former eBay executive and StubHub vice president Shawn Kernes joined Cash4Gold as Chief Technology Officer. Earlier this year, former eBay executive David Knight joined the company as Senior Vice President for International Marketing and Expansion.
