The eBay Glitch Report: Half.com and PayPal

Reading AuctionBytes: The eBay Glitch Report: Half.com and PayPal

PayPal has a chronic glitch in which it appears to be stuck in the 1960s. On Saturday, eBay posted that payment transactions displayed an incorrect dates for payment. "Members are reporting problems with PayPal payment transaction showing in incorrect date of 1969 which is causing issues filling orders and printing labels for the orders. We are aware of this issue and working to resolve it as quickly as possible."

This is not the first time PayPal has had a dating glitch. A search for the words PayPal and 1969 on the PayPal Developer Community board reveals a post from July written by a user who wrote, "Welcome to the "Paypal 1969 Issue Victim Support Group". Don't expect Paypal will fix this problem anytime soon."

On Friday, an AuctionBytes reader wrote that they were unable to view their recent Transaction History. "We received emails for payments received, but they don't show in the history. Which means we can't pay our vendors, ship the items, or manage our daily activity. Last week, payment emails weren't received." It's not clear if this was related to the date-glitch PayPal experienced.

Meanwhile users began experiencing technical glitches with some orders on eBay's Half.com marketplace beginning September 12, 2009. eBay acknowledged the problem in a discussion board post on September 16, explaining that "when some members purchase multiple items, the sales are not being completed. The items are being removed from the seller inventories and are not restored. This does not appear to affect single item purchases." eBay did not respond to inquiries before press time, but eBay posted a follow-up on the discussion-board thread that it had fixed the problem and was "currently working to reprocess orders that were affected."
