Etsy and Artfire.com, both marketplaces with a primary focus on handmade goods, have rolled out changes to make their sites easier for buyers and sellers.
ArtFire has launched a Global Product Editor that allows ArtFire.com artisans to quickly make mass changes to their inventory to run sales, adjust for changes in cost, and make seasonal changes. Sellers can also change their shipping costs to reflect an increase in postage expenses, can quickly modify item titles and tags for search engine work and optimization, and can move items into different studio categories for better organization. "This tool will change the way artisans mange their inventory, making it easier for them to have complete control of their business," said John Jacobs, ArtFire.com CEO, in a press release. "Artisans have been asking for this tool for a long time, and we were happy to be the first to give it to them."
Meanwhile, as part of Etsy's efforts to make Checkout a simpler process for shoppers, it is rolling out a change to a small percentage of traffic that removes non-essential elements from the header of Checkout pages. Simplifying the page header in the Checkout process is an ecommerce practice used by many great shopping sites, such as Amazon and Apple, according to the company announcement.
