Sneak Peak at Woot's New Daily Deals Site, Open to All Sellers

Woot.com is testing a new website that is currently open to a subset of users. Deals.Woot.com aggregates deals from other websites, and also allows its community of Wooters to submit deals and vote on the best ones. While Woot.com is a "daily deals" site, its new Deals.Woot.com website is an aggregator of daily deals - and it is inviting eBay PowerSellers and other online merchants to submit their deals to the site.

There are three sections on Deals.Woot.com: Sponsored Deals, where retailers and other Daily Deal sites pay to get one of five top spots on the homepage; Community Deals, "where you submit, vote on, and comment about deals around the internet"; and Ask the Wooters, where users can submit questions about any deal, products, feature, bugs, etc. The Community Deals offers a Digg-like feature where anyone can submit a deal, and the most popular deals make it onto the home page.

Woot is welcoming inquiries from merchants for the top "sponsored deals" section. Email sponsor@woot.com. Transactions take place off of Deals.Woot.com and on the retailer's own website (or whichever website on which the deal resides).

Interestingly, one of eBay's top PowerSellers, eforcity, is a sponsor in today's deals - a Universal Phone Holder for $2.99. Clicking on the "I want one" button on Deals.woot.com brings visitors to eforcity's website where they enter a coupon to get the special Woot price. (The item is one of five in the top sponsorship section.)

Woot.com invented the daily deal model that offers a single product each day at heavily discounted prices and available in limited quantities - as soon as the product is sold out or the clock strikes midnight, the product is no longer available for purchase. And while other sites now offer Daily Deals, Woot.com's community of over 2 million come for the content and to be entertained as much as to get a good deal.

You can follow Deals.woot.com on Twitter to learn when the site opens up to the general public.
