A majority of eBay sellers responding to a survey said they sell on other sites and/or marketplaces besides eBay (68%), and said they have plans to expand the channels on which they sell online in the next 12 months (69%). The survey, conducted by AuctionBytes October 8 - 19, asked sellers about eBay's new Top Rated Seller (TRS) program and recent changes to search.
When asked, "All things being equal, how do you think your sales will perform on eBay in November and December compared to the same two months last year," 18% estimated their sales would increase; 27% estimated their sales would remain the same; and 55% estimated their sales would decrease.
Sellers who reported that their listings displayed the new TRS badge were slightly more optimistic about holiday sales: 26% estimated their sales would increase; 28% estimated their sales would remain the same; and 46% estimated their sales would decrease.
AuctionBytes published Part 1 of the survey results last week that focused on the launch of eBay's new Top Rated Seller program (Link to Part 1 of survey results). Part 2, published on Monday, focused on recent changes to search (Link to Part 2 of survey results).
