Etsy is making some changes designed to improve page ranking on search engines, and it has updated its policies for users. On Wednesday, the marketplace told users the SEO changes would ensure that all incoming links to Etsy pages were counted by the search engines. In the process, it has also updated the current shop page URL from a format that uses a numerical User ID to one that is SEO-enhancing and shopper-friendly: www.etsy.com/shop/username. The announcement addresses questions users may have.
Etsy also announced a new "DOs & DON'Ts" policy, and as a result, has updated the Terms of Use, Privacy Policy, Copyright and Intellectual Property Policy. Etsy said that, for the most part, the core of the policies are still the same. "Our aim was to address concerns expressed by members over the past year, and we made several clarifications and a few additions to the policies." It summarized the highlights on the announcement page.
