Bonanzle reported strong holiday sales over the Black Friday/Cyber Monday weekend. The site was only 4 months old last Thanksgiving, making year-over-year comparisons impractical, but compared to the daily October 2009 average, the GMV average over the 4-day Black Friday - Cyber Monday weekend was 55% higher. GMV (the value of goods sold on the site) for Cyber Monday was 119% higher than the daily October average.
Bonanzle founder Bill Harding said two factors fueled the Cyber Monday sales. Sellers coordinated a number of Bonanzas (1-3 hour sales) for that day, combined with Bonanzle's Holiday Gift Guide newsletter, which was sent on Cyber Monday.
In addition, Harding said Bonanzle's new coupon list has been a big hit with buyers looking for bargains and was highly utilized by sellers on Cyber Monday.
