eBay Australia had advice for buyers and sellers who might be impacted by the Communication, Electrical and Plumbing Union work stoppages that could disrupt some Australia Post services over the coming days. Australia Post announced that they are putting on extra casual workers to minimize disruptions, and eBay advised users to use couriers or alternative delivery options when available.
eBay Australia specifically recommended that sellers consider using the 10% discount currently being offered to eBay members by Interparcel for domestic and international courier services.
eBay said it would write to Australia Post, the CEPU and relevant government ministers "on behalf of the more than 52,700 eBay sellers in Australia who currently derive their primary or secondary source of income from selling on eBay.com.au (according to June 2006 ACNielsen research), seeking assurances to avoid postal disruptions in the future."
