eBay Joins 'Do More, Do Less' Environmental Campaign

eBay joined Team Earth, a coalition of organizations, private sector companies and individuals convened by Conservation International, in launching the "Do More, Do Less" campaign. The ongoing campaign encourages the fair and sustainable use of the earth's resources through individual action.

The campaign's main objective is to illustrate how individual actions, taken en masse, have the potential to make a profound impact. Examples of the way individuals can make a commitment include making pledges to "use less" paper and "use more" CFL bulbs.

From now through Earth Day on April 22nd, for every person who takes eBay's Green Team challenge (committing to buy pre-owned, vintage or gently-used products when possible), eBay will protect an acre of threatened forest. Individuals will be able to choose to protect an acre in one of three forests in Mexico, Brazil or the Democratic Republic of Congo.

In conjunction with the launch of the Green Team Challenge, eBay is unveiling its new green shopping hub, designed to help consumers access the millions of green products available on the marketplace. Products featured on the new hub encourage consumers to follow three simple guidelines: first, choosing items that are pre-owned, vintage or refurbished; second, checking whether an item is made from sustainable materials, such as those featured on WorldofGood.com by eBay; and third, choosing energy and other resource saving products.
