eBay generated nearly $2 billion in gross merchandise volume (GMV) in 2010, with nearly $850 million coming from the United States. Leading international markets included Germany and the U.K. (which together generated nearly one-third of eBay's mobile sales in 2010), Australia, Canada and France. The fastest growing international eBay mobile markets were Australia and the U.K.
iPhone users continued to lead the way in mobile shopping on eBay. Since its initial release in 2008, more than 15 million people downloaded eBay's iPhone app, which is consistently ranked as a top three free Lifestyle app in the iTunes Store. More than 35 percent of iPad owners have downloaded the eBay app for the iPad.
Downloads of eBay's RedLaser iPhone app have more than tripled since eBay acquired the app in June to nearly seven million downloads to date.
