Do you remember the first item you ever sold online? Let us know by sending an email to ina@auctionbytes.com and we may publish your story. Today, we hear from Claire whose first eBay buyer turned out to be someone who worked at her own company!
I started selling on eBay back in early 2000 and began with selling things that I had around the house. One of the first items was a set of brass Ralph Lauren riding boot book ends which I no longer wanted.
I watched the bidding go along and the bookends finally sold. I contacted the buyer who it seemed lived in the Boston area which is where I live and was a big collector of Ralph Lauren items. He also worked in the financial district which is where I also work. Upon further investigation I discovered that my buyer worked in the same company! What are the chances of that happening I ask?
So instead of shipping the bookends, my buyer just walked over to my office. We became very good friends and continued to share eBay experiences with each for a very long time afterwards.
