Do you remember the first item you ever sold online? Let us know by sending an email to ina@auctionbytes.com and we may publish your story. Today we hear from Sally, whose experience listing a bagel slicer got her hooked on selling online.
Hi Ina,
I've read your stories about these sales and they are very interesting. I have to say I know one of those authors.
I had never been on a computer, let alone owned one, but for my birthday, I bought my first computer. Being a senior citizen, I thought, boy, what did I get myself into? It was all greek to me!
Anyway, the day I got my computer set up, I found eBay and I listed a bagel slicer which had been a gift, but I would never use.
Wow! I had a sale! $18.00! The first thing ever. However, I had no clue about the shipping, so I mimicked someone elses charges. I lost my fanny on that shipping, but I sure learned how to sell real quick and still made a profit since the slicer never cost me anything. It was a great experience, and it got me hooked.
I've been selling on line since 2003 and have learned a lot.
~Sally~
