Do you remember the first item you ever sold online? Let us know by sending an email to ina@auctionbytes.com and we may publish your story. Today we hear from Chelsea who fell in love with Etsy after moving to Italy.
Hi Ina,
Here is my story:
I moved to Italy with my Italian boyfriend last year. He, of course, started working right away but I needed to find something to do while waiting for my work permit to come threw. I am a huge fan of Etsy and the community of vintage sellers growing there and I signed up knowing that in Italy we have some amazing antique markets on the weekends. This is where I found my first listing that became my first sell. It was a 1950’s original pencil, ink, and water color fashion plate and it sold within 24 hours. The buyer bought the piece as a birthday present and in his feedback wrote, "This is the perfect gift for a friend of mine. You'll have made his birthday". I made someone's birthday?! I was hooked.
On a side note, I just found out this week that my long awaited work permit it ready but Etsy has become my job and is where my heart is now. (Besides the Italian boyfriend that is).
