Do you remember the first item you ever sold online? Let us know by sending an email to ina@auctionbytes.com and we may publish your story. Today we hear from Diana who ventured into ecommerce with a 50-cent yard-sale find!
In 2003, after having had a go at selling surplus items in a garage sale, and spending more to advertise than I made at the sale. I decided I'd have to try selling on ebay.
Imagine my delight, when the first item I listed sold. It was a book named "Sampler & Antique Needlework, Volume II" sold for $48.31. Looking back at it now, I'm surprised it sold, my title read "Old book -Used Samplers and Needlepoint". I had purchased the book at a garage sale myself for 50 cents! I had no idea that it would be valuable. The buyer even sent a message indicating she was thrilled to win the bid for this book!
ps: Ina, I so enjoy keeping in touch with the world of online selling through your newsletters.
