How would you improve eBay''s feedback system? (You have up to 250 characters to write your response.)
find a way for it to take less time to do
ability to make a correction, sometimes you hit Positive and meant a Negative but it stays as-is...suspensions for continued Negatives, maybe if a seller/buyer gets 4-5 in a row, even if its temporary. Right now a Seller who has 10,000 feedbacks can keep piling on the Negatives
Feedback from buyers would not be allowed until after payment has been made and noted. Too many sellers do not file negative feedback for fear of retaliation. Double the space for the feedback note. That would allow sufficient space for explanations, both positive and negative. Off topic: The responses allowed in number 8 are really inadequate. Too extreme to go from "minor problem" to "very big problem". Retalitory feedback for example is a problem for me but not a very big problem.
Link on page to sort and find neg and neut feedback. have retaliatory feedback removed with warnings to the person who left negative feedback from ebay stating that they could be suspended if they continue to leave retaliatory feedback. I think most people can look at feedback and determine what's retaliatory and not. I have left neutral feedback on a seller for shipping charges and he left negative retaliatory feedback. No reason other than that I had complained about shipping charges. Overpaid by 8.00. seller used USPS free box, no packing material was needed.
Make retaliatory feedback easier to remove for sellers
I don't believe non-paying bidders should be allowed to leave (negative) feedback for sellers. 99.9 percent of the time it is retaliatory. Ebay should be able to correct feedback. Ex: it was posted on the wrong account; when two people agree to remove negative feedback (why not just remove it completely); etc
Non-paying bidders should not be able to leave feedback whatsoever. Sellers dealing w/ bidders who make threats with negative feedback should be able to forward e-mails to eBay and have bidder get warning/suspension. Their reasonings on removing feedback should be widened to cover the multiple scenarios that occur. Feedback system is too subjective and thus open to too much abuse - on top of the fact that threatening negatie feedback is considered to be an illegal act.
I have been working on Ebay for almost 10 years. I think it stinks that as much money as this company makes that they make long time good sellers pay $20 to get undeserved feedback removed. Even after paying the $20 they remove the negative strike but they still leave the comment there for people to read. I think after paying that much money on a transaction where I clearly did nothing wrong it should at the very least be removed completely. I also think that Ebay should not charge long time or sellers in good standing a $20 fee to try to get bad feedback removed when determined that it was unwarranted. They should offer that free with a few hired people to handle this for their sellers.
1. They should allow seller to throw out one or two per year. In statistics we refer to this as the modified mean. This is under the assumption that the lowest is not typical. That person may be a mental case, or impossible to please. 2. If you have had say, 67 feedbacks, of which 100% are positive, ebay shows "Feedback score -- 67" It should say "Feedback score 100% out of 67 responses." The way they have it, it looks like you have a score of 67 which is almost failing. Sometimes they don't even show the 100% at all. Example: "My Ebay" page.
Negative feedback cannot be left until it is sent to the seller/buyer first. If the reason for the negative feedback is "resolved" (refund, replacement or it is mutually decided there was a misunderstanding)it isn't posted. If it isn't resolved it is posted in 7 days with no option for response by the second party.
have a better facility to protect from retaliation feedback (i.e. cancelled sales must not allow feedback)
Non paying bidders blocked from giving negative feedback or at least verifing any claim as to why they did not pay.
NPB's should not be allowed to leave FB. When someone chooses to place Neg FB, a box should pop up asking buyers if they have exhausted all attempts to resolve the issue with the Seller. Sellers should be warned that it is there duty and the law in most states that they must be willing to offer refunds, repairs, or exchanges to unhappy customers, without question.
after 90 days all FB should cease on a particluar auction.
Whenever disputed feedback is left have an IMPARTIAL UNINVOLVED third party receive all the input from both sides and render a considered decision which accompanies the feedback. Costly and time consuming initially, but as time goes on it will cause greater attention to documentation which will improve service and decrease the effectiveness of retaliatory feedback, so as to make it much less frequent.
Prevent troublesome buyers leaving feedback when an unpaid item strike is issued.
N/A
Eliminate a negative after 1 year if it's the only one; discard use of nuetral - either you are happy or you are not; simplify feedback to a graded system - 1 to 5 stars for positive and 1 to 5 stars for negative - comments optional. Also, use better incentives than colored star level ratings, maybe like the Anything Points. On My eBay Page, activate button indicating Feedback Left by your Buyer or Seller for instant viewing.
Do away with the "Feedback Score". It does not give any indication of the total number of transactions that a seller/buyer has completed. Buyers especially neglect to leave feedback. As a seller I want potential buyers to see that I have completed many more (3 times more in fact) transactions than my misleading "Feedback Score" seems to indicate. Ebay should state this information up front, ie: Total Transactions / Positive Transactions / Negative Transactions / Neutral Transactions.
There should be a way to weed out retaliatory feedback. As a seller, I had someone who did not communicate or pay for over a month. I left a negative. Eventually he contacted me and paid, but left a negative for me. My solution was to mutually withdraw but that still shows up as a mutual withdrawal. Another problem is newbies who leave negative feedback for minor problems that an experienced buyer would work out with a seller.
Increase feedback space, easier feedback disputes (removal, etc)
Make it easier to find the negative/neutrals of a seller. Rating system instead of one blanket 'happy statement.'
Users should be able to change feedback from positive to negative and vice versa. Quite often problems or misunderstandings are easily resolvced.
When leaving negative feedback it should be required that a reason be given, i.e, not just negative and no reason. There should be a REAL reason when leaving neg. feedback and parties should be REQUIRED to contact each other to correct any problem before leaving neg. feedback.
I someone doesn't pay for what they bid on and won, and I go through Ebay's non-paying bidder system, after I get a commission refund, that Buyer should be blocked from leaving negative feedback for me. If they didn't pay, they should not have any feedback privileges for that transaction. Also, I think that when people leave multiple positive feedbacks they should all count, not just one.
I would like to see neg's and neutrals (past 6 months) shown with total on auctions ... would save time for me when I am making a purchase or checkin on a bidder on my auction (no neg's or neutrals - less worry).
If a bidder does not pay and is sent an unpaid notice and does not respond and the seller receives a credit the deadbeat buyer should not be able to leave a negative feedback to the buyer. If you do not respond to the warnings you should not be able to respond and leave negative feedback after given warnings.
Do something about users changing ID's and being able to conduct new business. Ebay should be able to track a new user by CCard number or address or other things. There has to be a better way of allowing bad users to get a new ID and buy/sell.
Because I deal with multiple transactions and repeat customers, I would very much like to be able to receive one feedback "point" for each transaction, instead of just one point from each individual trading partner.
Feedback isn't always left from buyer so the true amount of items sold is never realized. Ebay needs to put up a system where the sellers sold count will show - not just the current system because we are at the mercy of the buyer if they even take the time to leave feedback. Most sellers try hard to make customers happy and don't reap a just reward in items shown as sold.
a buyer can not leave feedback if they have not paid for the item..esp if paypal only...
All feedbacks need to count and not from the person only one time, if we have to use this feedback method.
eBay needs to make it where if a buyer never pays and the seller files a non paying bidder warning, the buyer should not be allowed to leave feedback.
options to eliminate negative feedback tighter rules for new ebayers who haven't learned ebay protocal some sort of warning of fraudulant sellers-maybe a popup to proceed with caution
I don't really know. I wish feedback could be mandatory.
Institute a "default" feedback rating. On a scale of 1-5, a default of 3 (neutral) would automatically be applied the 31st day following an auction. If buyers and sellers want to give a different rating they could manually override the default. Possible instead of a numbering system, it could be excellent - very good - normal - minor problems - major dissatisfaction. Both sellers and buyers would be able to add comments to any and all of the ratings.
Make it easier to remove feedback from known nut cases.
Allow me to enter multiple item numbers and then leave bulk feedback for all in bulk. List my items sold and indicate whether feedback has been left for them or not. Allow me as a seller to retract feedback for a buyer if I chose with cause.
Do NOT allow retaliatory negatives. I am very reluctant to leave negative feedback for fear of retaliatory negs. It has happened in the past. Allow feedback to be changed if a circumstance changes.
1) Change "Positive" and "Negative" to a three point system. a)Shipping b) item as described c) communication. If a seller ships on time and has good communication but the item is not as described, they get a 2 instead of a 3. If the item is good and the seller ships on time but won't return emails they get a 2 instead of a 3. 2)Somehow when people leave a positive but state negative things has to stop. Just today I saw a positive feedback that read, "Item was shoddy and seller was very slow to ship." Hello? What is so positive about that? The reason people do that is a) so they don't experience retaliatory feedback and b) they don't want people to see the negative feedback on the "left by" side. Ridiculous!
Not allow NPB's to leave fb, remove unjustified feedback
All the negative feedbacks I received out of 1979 feedbacks were all lies and nothing can be done. I don`t mind a negative feedback if it was true. Then I deserve it. I don`t know if this would solve the problem or not, but have someone from ebay contact the person who left the negative feedback, and also the seller to see who is lying. I would really like to see this problem solved.
retaliatory feedback is a problem. need some unbiased third party to investigate and mediate all neutral and negitive feedbacks , have a way to remove any unjustified feedbacks.
Retaliatory feedback is a major problem. I had a new bidder who didn't follow directions ruin my 100% positive feedback. I don't think new bidders with less than 25 positive feedback or bidders with excessive negative feedback in proportion to their positive feedback should be allowed to leave feedback.
I believe that every feedback should count toward your scores and percents even on repeat buyers. If you have a repeat buyer then not only does the buyer lose good feedback but so does the seller in all fairness it should be counted for every sale or purchase as the buyer/seller was still buying the item and the seller was still selling the item so it should count that you bought or sold that item.
Truthfully, I don"t know. I feel it is not fair for a seller to leave feedback, as soon as $ is rec, & then you have to send several messages to buyer, practically begging for feedback, and hoping for the best. I hope someone out there has a good idea.
Should enable you to withdraw or change your feedback within a set time (e.g. ten minutes).
give credit for each feedback,in some way or other, the would encourage more people to leave feedback.
I do not like the fact that you must check ONLY in the positive box for anyone to get points. It makes no sense. I feel there should be a wider margin of positive feedback. For example, Great, Good, Fair, Could Do Better, Poor.. or something similar. Also allowing for feedback that may not be posted if a seller or buyer fixes the problem encountered. I don't know, it just seems kind of hokey except to know that they pay well.
I feel threatened by the feedback program and I don't give negative feedback. If something is not my fault I can receive negative feedback and it cannot be corrected. My one negative was not anything I had done wrong and couldn't be corrected. I really appreciate all of my postive ones, and have bent over backwards to keep from getting any.
To be able to call up a members bad or neutral feedback (if he is a regular user) without having to wade thro' hundreds of dated feedback!
Improve the feedback system where the negatives can be "taken back" once a problem has been taken care of. Then your score would have the chance of improving, instead of forever going down.
I would not allow a non paying bidder to leave feedback for a seller.
1) remove the right/ability for NPB's to leave negative feedback. they should not have access to the system "perks" such as leaving feedback, to report on a transaction when they didn't even complete it. Once item goes through UPID and FVF's are credited, the NPB should have all normal benefits of the transaction removed and an UPPIStrike should show on their feedback score card. 2)Feedback score card should not read in % but in ratio e.g 10/2 meaning 10 postives, 2 unpaid item strikes. The current feedback system doesn't reflect the "NPB" scenario very well at all.
ebay's fb system does work... i can't contribute how to better it since it's a complex system. 1 thing, allow positive fb from repeat buyers. it's unfair it only counts for one. each transaction should be allowed a feedback. also when ebay sees a seller w/gd fb and a newbie gives a neutral or neg. this should weigh in favor of the seller. it will take more hands on from ebay to better the system. i will not give a neg because of retaliation and i think people who give retaliation can be determined by their previous feedback. i had a buyer with about 6 sellers who never gave her a neg/fb and she had all positives and was a real flake and thief.
the 30 days you have too leave a feedback that counts, isn't good for those sending packages by lowest rate possiable, somethimes it takes 30 days to get here.( book rate). these people only send book rate, i think its a scam, who know how many people they dupe, no neg. f-b shows up for them. ?
I think there should be a seven day mediation period. The buyer or seller indicates that they wish to leave negative feedback, the other party is notified, and they are then given seven days to try and resolve the situation before the feedback is actually posted.
Ebay should allow buyers the option to remove neutral and negative feedbacks from sellers that have worked out problems with them. Some people automatically leave negative feedbacks over problems without notifying the seller that there is a problem. There should also be a sunset clause on negative feedbacks by which ebay removes them after a certain amount of years. Negative feedbacks should not carry a life sentence.
Somehow prevent negative feedback from having such an impact on a seller who has previously maintained an outstanding record. Personally,I have not only been unfairly threatened, but received negative feedback from totally unreasonable people who, could only be classified as,"nut cases", after bending over backward to satisfy them! Lets face it--there are a few out there! Thanks for this opportunity.
Some method for reporting repeat buyers needs to be implemented - as is, repeat buyers do nothing for your percentage and are often overlooked. Repeat buyers offer a better indication of satisfaction than to one-time buyers. There also should be some method for reporting "mutual cancels", particularly in the short term, both to verify a seller's return policy and also to validate quality of goods sold.
Seperate the feedback into BUYERS & SELLERS. No multiple negs. Staffed customer service dept to handle complaints and attacks via emails.
Require it or do away with it. Problem with non paying negative feedback - it shouldn't be allowed.
I liked it when I could click on my item and see the feedback left for that particular item. Now I have to search through all feedback to see how a buyer felt about a paticulat item. Also I would like to be able to read all the negative feedbacks or neutrals on a buyer or seller without having to sift through all the positives.
Mandatory that feedback must be given before bidding or selling another item. Find a better system for removing unwarranted negatives. OR, eliminating the feedback system altogether unless there's a problem.
There must be a way of counting feedback from customers who by more than once. There must be a way of controlling unfair Feedback.
Sorry i wouldnt know how.
I think when a seller or a buyer has met with someone who is extremely difficult to deal with e-bay needs to erase the feedback, at least the first one or two times they receive a complaint that the feed back is unfair. If the seller or buyer complains more than one or two times and e-Bay has investigated they can let the feed back stand. Recently there have been some hijacked accounts and the feedback has been extremely insulting and vulgar to some sellers and buyers. E-bay knows the accounts were hijacked, they investigated it and reported the accounts were high jacked and feed back bogus but they did not remove it. WHY?
I recieved two negative feed backs, neither did I deserve. A bid was placed on my item for 99.99,the person did not pay me. I left negative feed back,he left me negative. I have been doing a slow burn ever since. That person has since been removed from ebay, seems he doesnt pay anyone. How can someone NOT pay me,then leave ME a negative? The other was an item that was paid with a check,10 bus.day wait to clear. I didnt even wait the whole 10 days, sent the item, they recieved it in less than 10 days, they left a negative, recieved item next day. Go figure. If a person does not pay for an item,There is NO WAY they should be able to leave a negative. thank you for allowing me to vent!
No neg feedback can be given by someone under 10 points When postive is left, email sent to other party requesting feedback
Give people a way to just review negative or neutral feedback at a glance instead of having to hunt for it. If buyers give undeserved negative feedback to a seller give that seller a way to resolve the problem and allow the buyer to remove the negative feedback if they are satisfied with the resolution. Sellers will give positive feedback even if it isn't deserved just so they are not retaliated against and this practice needs to be stopped. Sellers should be able to tell the truth about a buyer.
We need more space for typing in responses.
First of all I would say that any buyer that pays promptly should never ever get a negative feedback or be subject to getting negative if he doesnt respond positively after product is received and it is good... what I would do is require sellers to give feedback after payment and during shipping...If they have a quality product they should have nothing to worry about....I am insulted as a buyer when I dont get positive feedback when I pay instantly...what else can a buyer be rated on but his payment?????? I cant think of anything...he should be given feedback before shipping. If not he is subject to retalliation feedback (a bad thing and a big problem)....the seller is judged by his product and service.
Limit newbies' ability to leave negative feedback until they have been on ebay for some period of time or have successfully completed a number of transactions.
If a buyer is a NPB or backs out of sale, I do not think they should be allowed to leave feedback.
I feel that a person should have a certain number of feedbacks before they can leave a negative. Most of my negatives have been by newbies with just a few feedbacks of their own and they do not know they are to contact other party prior to leaving a neutral or negative.
Ebay "feedback math" does not reflect thousands of repeat customers for the same seller. Percentage of feedback left for others by both Buyers and sellers should be displayed. Buyers and sellers who do not leave feedback are less reliable. Buyers and sellers with invalid contact information should not be allowed to bid or leave feedback! Leaving neutral or negative feedback should require a specific form to be filled out with the particulars of the problem - especially asking whether they have reread the listing and the seller's policies, even contacted the other party to resolve the issue, whether they understand the dispute resolution process and other questions that would alleviate feedback errors. The most dramatic example of feedback ignorance came from an attorney, who was disatisfied with a $7 (inclduing shipping) purchase, but did not contact the seller. Upon questioning after negative feedback was left, he believed that the feedback system was designed for "constructive criticism" - until he was asked if a complaint to the Bar Association (without trying to resolve the issue with the attorney involved) was a normal business procedure.
Non paying bidders should NOT be allowed to leave feedback once the seller leaves feedback..they can respond but NOT leave feedback. I do not leave feedback for non paying bidders in fear of getting negative feedback from them..as many other sellers. In turn the NonPaying bidder just moves on and and cost other sellers money in lost fees and loss of time to get FVF refund..but not a insertions fee refund-that is just lost. Not allowing them to leave feedback after we have posted the fact they did not pay would allow more sellers to leave appropriate feedback and may alert others. Ebay also needs to refund the listing fee for Non-paying bidder auctions...maybe charging the bidder themselfes. Thanks for the opportunity to voice my opinions.
Like to see reminder of feedback importance in winning auction notification.
Non-paying bidders should not be allowed to leave feedback on an unpaid , incompleted transaction. Of course there are so many of these and if I leave a negative they in turn will leave a negative all because they failed to send payment. This is NOT right and do want to let others know of their NP but cannot because it takes to many positives to pull up what one negative can do.
Not allow non-paying bidders to leave feedback.
Make it like yahoo. Have the ability to change the feedback yourself for a perios of time. You can neg now and change to positive later yourself when it is resolved. It allows you much more room to explain things.
For those who leave negative feedback (especailly retaliatory) & are no longer registered members, the feedback should be null and void and not count towards the final rating. For return buyers, feedback should count towards the total feedback points and not be put aside. For retaliatory feedback by a newbie (someone with less than 10) eBay should consider the seller (if they have a high perfect score) and not permit someone to leave bad feedback for stupid reasons. I had 2 negative feedbacks from the same person (a newbie) simply because I asked if he could reduce the shipping by combining my winnings (I won 2 plates & the shipping was exhorbitant.)
Allow the complete removal of negative feedback in certain cases, as was once allowed via SquareTrade. Allow for more space for seller and buyer to explain to others their side of the feedback.
The ability to remove retalitory feedback.
I think ebay should send more notices to buyers to leave feedback for buyers.
I have one negative feedback because of a minor miscommunication and all was taken care of but the buyer's wife didn't know about it and left a neg. feedback. This is over 3 years ago and I have over 1000 positive feedbacks. I contacted the person and asked them if they would agree to remove it but they never responded. I don't think it is fair to charge $20.00 to remove 1 neg feedback. I would love to have my 100%. I think if a person hasn't had any neg or neutral in 2 years and does average over a certain number of feedbacks this should be dropped and changed to 100%. The average should be really 99.99999!!! Thanks for letting me vent my frustration, but I know you don't have any control so nothing will be done until I spend the $20.00!!
Make it possible to view only negatives, only neutrals and only positives. Being able to see how a seller handled negative situations says much about their professionalism. And, if buyers were able to see only a seller's negatives, you would see much less retaliatory feedback, and an increased effort to resolve conflicts, because it would be readily apparent where a seller's priorities were, in the dollar sign, or on the customer.
NPB's should not be allowed to leave feedback.
A large percentage of positive feedbacks would deserve more credit. All feedback numbers would show (even duplicates from the same buyer). Retaliatory feedback would be removed. Buyers would be encouraged to leave feedback without my telling them.
As a seller the thing I like least is that I have been afraid to leave a buyer negative feedback because of their ability to retaliate unfairly. This was especially true when I had less than 50 feedbacks and was trying to build a reputation. I am at 100% positive and have managed to avoid a couple of potentially negative situations by leaving only positive feedback. One of those was with 2 nutcase buyers who apparently have a history of filing bogus charges against each other.
There should be only menu options for leaving feedback, not freeform text. If none of the menu options apply (ie: never paid for item, never received item, etc) then you cant leave feedback. In this regard if a person chooses a menu option and the other party can prove it's false (ie: buyer says never received item but seller can produce delivery confirmation) then the feedback should be removed by eBay.
Non paying bidders should forfeit their right to leave feedback.
I have no way to improve
They should deal with sellers like they do buyers....3 strikes and you're out but sellers are allowed to continue on and on getting negative feedback. Should be able to look at negative and neutral without having to "sift" through all the feedback. Should remove obvious retaliatory feedback.
I would make it so that a NPB couldn't leave negative feedback.
I think allowing a nonpaying bidder to leave a neg feedback for the seller is ridiculous. The bidder is the person who failed to complete the auction -- why should the seller be faulted & receive a neg from an unresponsive buyer.
no opinion
No suggestions
A zero to ten rating for GOOD feedback, Covering-shipping, packing, etc. No A++++, great buyer!!!! BLAH BLAH BLAH If there is a problem on either side. Proper space to voice complaint as you have in the OTHER (please specify)window of question 10 If I'm upset about a purchase, I want to list my reasons adequately. If I'm happy I'd rather use a rating system. Some buyer/seller have hundreds of feedback. After a certain time the positive should be consolidated into a rating system and only negative should be available.
Once the non payment process is initiated the feedback should be disabled until payment is received. Could be enabled if payment received. And feedback should be easily renegotiated or changeable in case of errors when reported, not head in the sand refuse to do anything like now. A non payer gets the negative, the seller shouldn't, mostly they are not left at all. The system doesn't work, the percentages never seem to change regardless of pos/negs. Bad idea.
I wouldn't....if it ain't broke - why fix it!
I should be able to get a list of all negative and/or neutral feedbacks without having to scroll through page after page of feedback.
My bid complaint is people being able to leave you a negative when they are a deadbeat bidder and it is not your fault.
Prevent bidder's from leaving fb after the seller has reported nonpayment.
1) Ebay should NEVER let a non-paying bidder leave any kind of feedback whatsoever. 2) Ebay should have a Feedback department devoted to taking complaints and removing negatives that are not justified, and do this very quickly.
There should be a way to sear & read all the negative & neutral feedbacks so one can see if there is a pattern. I should be able to automatically bar bidders with a certain percentage or number of negative feedbacks. (Is this already possible?) I think showing the percentage vs. actual number on the listing is a good thing, so the one extortive feedback I got didn't hurt my feedback terribly.
Look at the reputation and feedback numbers of the person leaving the feedback. When a person cheats me, I don't leave any feedback since they will only stick me with a untruth retaliation. I have lost over $500 on ebay from fraud but find the feedback & squaretrade a joke.
IF a buyer does not pay he should not be allowed to leave feedback without good reason. Ebay should remove feedback for buyers.sellers who lie.
I don't think nonpaying bidders should be able to leave feedback for a seller, unless they can prove they've paid. In most cases, they can't prove it cos they DIDN'T pay, and retaliatory fb to a seller who justly left a negative is not fair to the seller, who did nothing wrong in the transaction.
I honestly do not think it is fair for a seller to receive a negative feedback when the buyer has not contacted the seller in any way to let them know there is a problem or is dissatisfied. I think if you leaving negative it should be after the buyer and seller has communicated in some form and it is a last resort. I received one the other day, which I know I did not deserve nor did I ever hear from the buyer in any way. I do not feel this is fair.
I think it would be very helpful to be able to pull up all Neg and Nut feedback so i can see if they are a real problem or byer remorse. Also give the person more space to answer the so called problem.
I am deeply opposed to eBay's allowing feedback to be private. That defeats the purpose of the system. If someone has poor feedback, it's because they've earned it. A few months ago I bid on something (in a hurry, without noticing the private and negative feedback numbers) and the seller did not send the item for months (and after he/she left eBay). I delayed leaving negative feedback for a while, hoping for the best. But eventually I had no choice, as seller would not respond to emails.
needs improvement as established sellers should not be penalized for new e bayers and also for those with invalid complaints e bay should get involved in this or other 3rd parties better than square trade
Feedback should have items to check - similar to this questionaire...rather than "subjective" notes. Also it should include in the categories, whether item was properly described as to condition, promptness of payment & shipping.
negative and neutral feedbacks should be removed when the person that left the feedback no longer has a valid ebay account
EBAY SHOULD REQUIRE USERS TO LEAVE FEEDBACK A CERTAIN % OF THE TIME, SUCH AS 75%. SOME USERS DO NOT LEAVE FEEDBACK EVEN THOUGH THEY GOT A GREAT BARGAIN AND THE ITEM WAS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. THIS IS NOT FAIR WHEN FEEDBACK WAS LEFT FOR THEM. ALSO I LEFT NEUTRAL FEEDBACK FOR A DIFFICULT EBAY SELLER WHO SOLD A DEFECTIVE ITEM. SHE RETALIATED BY LEAVING NEUTRAL FEEDBACK FOR ME EVEN THOUGH I PAID QUICKLY AND ASKED IF SHE WOULD TAKE THE DEFECTIVE ITEM BACK. SHE REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT, BUT LEFT THE NEUTRAL FEEDBACK JUST BECAUSE I DID. THIS IS NOT FAIR EITHER.
address the issues stated above
i wouldl make sure that the buyer or seller have a chance to defend themselves. Maybe they do already, I don't know as I have never had any bad feedback. I will be leaving bad feedback from a seller who is holding refunding my money for a pay pal transaction.
Drop the percentages. Just post feedbacks given.
Increase amount of characters; shorten time to leave; earn eBay Anything points (or something else) when buyer or seller does so to encourage them to do it. My feedback shows only 451, when in actuality I've sold closer to 1500 items. My percentage suggests only 1/3 of the buyers leave feedback.
Make it easier for a buyer/seller to leave feedback...and somehow make them want to leave feedback (ie discounts, points, or something). Help people understand what negative feedback is for: NOT post office failure, NOT things out of our control.
Make it possible to leave MORE feedback words, so that the issue could be properly explained.
Don't allow a buyer to leave feedback for a seller once a NPBA is filed to help prevent feedback retaliation.
Limit Negatives..3 strikes within 3 months & you are out for 30 days!..I have seen people with 72 negatives STILL in business! Absolutely ridiculous!
Should be a series of questions about the transaction to better grade the whole experience, then a point system for each answer.
First of all I would automatically remove negative feedback from anyone who received it from someone who gets kicked out or suspended from e-bay. E-bay should enforce removal of sellers or buyers who receive too many negative feedbacks. An amount to be determined. They should work on a policy for handling retailitory negative feedback.
Ability to change the feedback I give when I give it first. I never got a negative but just in case.
Provide a BETTER system to remove negative feedback.
I think the process to mediate transactions is a step in the right direction but the process is still very long and drawn out. I would like to see ebay take a more active roll in reprimanding feedback extortionists. I receive feedback threats on a weekly basis over rediculous things. I should be able to report these bidders to ebay and perhaps they could take action if they notice a pattern of behaviour with a given user.
ebay should count all feedback from a buyer or seller of mult. auctions and do away with the unique buyer syst. they use.
Can only leave feedback after both parties agree to comments about the other.
I would not let a Negative feedback be left until both parties have proved their case. A temp neutral may be left and a auto comment would be left that parties are working on the tranasaction. Then after a decision or outcome through a neutral clearing party, The buyer or seller may leave a neg FB if the other party does not want to work it out.and the neutral would be overturned. The failing party may not leave feedback as it would be blocked.A favorable outcome would allow both parties to leave a positive FB.
I would say that until the final step of the auction is complete --- LEAVING FEEDBACK! --- seller and/or buyer should not be able to list or buy. As a community - feedback is vital to our the process. Seller needs it for growing the business. Buyer needs it to feel security and somewhat informed when bidding. Thanks! Tina berginauctionmanagement
Allow more than 80 characters to qualify the feedback.
The system leans heavily toward the Buyer. The Seller can be penalized for leaving negative feedback for non-payments, dishonest claims, etc., with undeserved retaliatory feedback. For this reason, most Sellers will not give feedback first.
No feedback allowed from NPBs; expand field for feedback (allow more description); remove negatives three years back if all positive since
The current system is to the seller's disadvantage because the buyer can ruin a seller's feedback if they do not get whatever they demand. They can try to change shipping , ignore emails etc & then if seller leaves NPB they can leave a negative.
I would disallow folks that I have reported as NPB from leaving FB. I would give equal wieght to postives (especially multiples from same buyer) as negs.........
I would stop all NPBs from leaving unless they could prove that the seller was commiting fraud or that they had in fact paid. NPS would not be allowed to leave feedback unless they could prove that they weren't a NPS. All current feedback from NPSs and NPBs would be removed.
I feel a negative from a NPB should be erased.
Better warnings against the use of feedback as a way to communicate (re new users). More visible reminders from eBay to leave feedback. (i.e. email saying "x user left u FB, would u do the same?" - perhaps they could be reminded again a month later if not left yet. Easier reporting of FB extortion
I think the positive and negative numbers should be shown on each auction page instead of having to look it all up. I also think the positive and negative should be available separately, instead of having to look at them all at once. If it is a high volume seller they can have 200 or more feedbacks in one day.
When someone is an NPB (Non-Paying Buyer) they should NOT be able to leave feedback for a seller.
When a buyer doesn't make payment and a non-paying bidder alert is filed, feedback should not be allowed by that buyer until payment has been made and a buyer shouldn't be allowed to ever leave feedback if payment is never recevied and ebay has credited fees to the seller.
After a neg is left, feedback shouldn't be posted for 24 hours. During this time, the recipient of the neg should be notified so he can handle problem with giver of the neg. At end of 24 hours, the giver can post or retract the neg to give feedback at another time.
you need to be able to click on the Negative feedback instead of having to scroll thru.
I think there should be a pending, disputed negative. or worded something like that. And a real way to dispute these negs. I think that could help with the extorted feedback. I have had to refund money for perfectly good items and they keep the item with threats that if i didn't they would leave neg. I'm getting tiered of that.
The retaliatory feedback is the major problem and needs to be addressed.
Give the Ebayers a vote and let them decide if feedback should be deleted or kept! If there were a dispute and somehow a commission could read both sides of the issues then they could decide like an arbitrator. I would like to have 100% on my ebay feedback, but because a few bozos hurt me with positive feedback (unwarranted I felt), it would be nice if an Ebay court of arbitration could look into these situations and give their judgement.
Provide ability to search only negative and/or neutral feedback Be able to see feedback left by both parties for the same transaction in the same area or screen Revoke NPBs right to leave feedback Completely remove feedback comments when mutually withdrawn Be able to see up to 200 transactions on the 'Leave Feedback' page or allow for sorting so you can find the person who just left feedback for you without have to search page after page for it
Not let unpaid bidders leave feedback, and have a contact the seller email before any negative can be left.
require buyer to contact seller PRIOR to posting negative feedback
made both seller and buyer a must to leave feedback
Need to have ebay more involved when some one leaves retaliatory feed back. Able to step in and fix times like this.
eBay's core business advantage depends upon its feedback. They should spend some money into it to avoid retaliatory feedback and feedback extortion. I feel it works against any serious seller to have a single ebay ID - in fact, anything less than 4 ebay IDs is catastrophic.
Be able to remove negative if it warrants, ie retaliatory feedback
Do NOT allow any feedback to be private. All feedback should be shown. There should be a way to click on all the Negatives; all the Neutrals, and all the Positives.
To have non-paying bidders and non-performing sellers excluded from leaving feedback.
Make it a rule that sellers leave feedback first.
Too many people leave positive FB no matter what b/c it goes against their record and makes them look bad if they tell the truth about something poor about the transaction. I have asked many people why they lefy pos. FB if they were not satisfied and this is what I hear. What is the point and how does it help if we must always leave pos. FB or we look bad. Then a poor seller or buyer looks good when they may not be. I think it is a poor system and the FB should be divided up. There should be a different FB system. This one is not working and nobody leaves bad FB unless they are new and do not realize it goes against their own %. Too many people are getting away with being poor sellers.
I don't have a clue
A reminder e-mail (automatic feedback notice) should be sent to remind buyers and sellers to leave feedback on items purchased or sold over a certain period of time. Also, it should be much more difficult to leave negative feedback. One negative out of many positives should not deduct from the feedback "percentage" so easily.
Stop encouraging sellers to leave feedback on receipt of payment, which contrdicts the idea that FB is voluntary. It also encourages rabid bidders to insist on FB before the transaction is complete, which is on receipt, satisfaction, and notification, and not before.
More character space for comments. A 30 window enabling you to change your feedback left. For example if a buyer leaving negative feedback because of an item not received only for it to show up the next day. Or if you purchase something such as an electronic item and a week later it no longer works.
Erase unfair feedback, retaliatory.
must be able to remove feedback placed by mistake or by mutual agreement when the delivery is delayed but not the sellers fault..without paying $20.00
A lot of people do not leave truthful FB in fear of receiving poor FB in retaliation. Feedback comments should be private till both parties have left FB, then it should be posted to the accounts.
I would dis-allow retalitory negative feedback from buyers that have not paid for an auction.
I DISAGREE WITH THE OPTION OF ALLOWING PEOPLE TO NOT MAKE THEIR FEEDBACK KNOWN TO OTHER BUYERS AND SELLERS. I FIND MYSELF AFRAID TO LEAVE NEGATIVE FEEDBACK WHEN IT IS DESERVED BECAUSE THE OUTCOME WILL BE A 'RETALIATION TYPE' NEGATIVE LEFT FOR ME BY THAT PERSON WHEN IT IS COMPLETELY UNWARRANTED.
If you file a NPB and neg the bidder, they should not be able to leave feedback.
Remove retaliatory feed back immediately. Give more credit for the number of successful transactions, for example, we have one two year old negative and it is still affecting our feedback...cancel the negs one year at a time...ie; I get a neg Jan 7 04 for slow shipping, cancel it on Feb 1 05. If you get one on June 5th cancel it on July of the next year...etc
not allow NPB to leave feedback
(1) Should have a checklist of Excellant to Poor on packing, shipping charges, delivery time, condition of item(s),"need(s) to improve", that does not leave a positive or negative feed back. (2) More space to write explainations, if needed. (3) Should be able to leave constuctive criticism without getting a negative feedback in retailiation.
Take feedback privileges away from deadbeat bidders. Let it be easier to retract feedback if there is a mistake.
I was given negative feedback only once by someone who never intended in purchasing my item. eBay has always refused to remove it or change it to neutral.
If I knew the answer to that I would be rich! It's a tough problem! :)
NPBs and NPS shouldn't be allowed to leave fb. The # of characters available should be at increased.
N/A
I have no solutions to the feedback dilemma.
For each negative feedback you are suspended for a period of time. Every 5 negative feedback increases suspension by 1 day. Ever figure the amount of money when somone has over 50 negatives?
There must be steps that must be followed before negative feedback is left. No one should be able to leave negative feedback right off the back--without giving the other a chance to rectify the problem. The seller's feedback should be separate from his buyer's feedback. There should be a spot that says the neg fb was left for both parties (indicating retaliatory). One or two negatives should be erased after so many positives.
Not allow non-paying bidder to leave Retaliatory Feedback. Period. E-bay system is not accurate because of that.
Amazon's system appeals to me, though it is a little frustrating. But at least sellers are rated on a scale of 1-5, so you have an idea about how honest and reliable they are. Seller feedback (left by a buyer) needs to be differentiated from buyer feedback (left by a seller).
Have categories for each transaction's feedback: From the Seller: Promptness in Payment Communication From the Buyer: Communication Promptness in receipt Item was 'as listed' Item received in tact, proper packaging, clean S&H fees commensurate with actual costs
it should be mandatory to leave feedback, especially now that you need a certain number to be able to post on the community boards. Also I think that selers should leave it when the buyer has fulfilled thier end of the bargain and the buyer leave it when they have received their goods. It is not fair that when I as a buyer get something and doesn't work or is not as described that I must leave positive feedback or face the possibility of receiving a negative feedback in return.
Have a system of checks & balances so that someone who hasnt paid for an item must go through a screening process of before being allowed to leave any feedback. Double check with the seller that the buyer has been responding to emails and see if the transaction was mutually agreed not to proceed. Without that...no negative feedback can be left by the buyer. Definitely NO feedback ability if it is a NPB!!!
no suggestions
FB is voluntary which makes it unenforcible. There should be a "clearing house" for all FB. Both the seller and the buyer would leave FB at the clearing house and after the transaction is satisfactory for both parties, the FB would be released from the clearing house and sent to the approppriate person.
Disallow or remove feedback from nonpaying bidder.
send reminders to buyers/sellers of xactions in which fb has not been left; mandatory "cooling off" period of at least 24 hrs b4 neg fb posts to a user's profile to allow time to retract it; ability for the fb poster to change the fb (good to bad; bad to good) if the situation changes, wrong fb is left, or left on the wrong xaction; ability to post more than one follow-up
not allow any feedback to be given under 10 days from the end of the auction unless the transaction was completed. and a reason should be given to ebay before a neutral or negative is posted.
They need to come up with a way of removing an undeserved retaliatory feedback. My 3 (out of a complete total of 3417 positives)were left by: a buyer who didn't pay for over two months and then left one when I did, 1 who just decided that she didn't want the purse, and one who waited 3 months (international) before he reported the item never arrived. In all 3 I didn't deserve the negs.
If an NPB alert is filed or a final value credit, the other person should not be able to leave feedback.
There needs to be a way that we can leave negative feedback when someone bails on an auction WITHOUT them leaving negative feedback for you that is not deserved.
Negative feedback from new users should be reviewable for fairness. Educate new users about leaving feedback. My experience has been that although I do everything to make a buyer happy - including full refund - if they didn't like the item, they leave negative.
well first off when you have a customer that you have got NPB and got your fees back they should in no way be able to leave feedback against you this is one of the worst things that I think about the feedback system and has happened to me. so once NPB has been done they should not be able to leave feedback against the seller. Thats the one I would work on first
On items that the buyer did not pay for or canceled, they should not be allowed to leave feedback in retaliation and if a non-paying bidder alert is filed and a strike against them, it should be noted in their feedback profile (how many strikes they have) because most sellers do not leave neg. fb because it comes right back. The feedback system is not a clear indication of a buyer or seller's value system. I just had a seller send me a damaged sweater and would not allow me to return it without leaving positive first (how many times has she done this?!) and when I refused to pay postage both ways and leave positive for her first and filed fraud charges with ebay (did not count as extortion), she left me neg. feedback - so I left her neg. in return.
Allow for "grades" - Excellent, very good, fair, poor, horrendous.
Buyers who have received an Unpaid Item Strike should not be able to leave negative feedback for the seller.
A provision by sellers to remove negative feedback not warrantied. But not in excess, just a few times a year or something. More expanded than just positive, negative or neutral. perhaps hav a numbered ranking system, 1-5, or 1-10 or someting more flexible and meaningful.
Don't allow non-selling sellers and non-paying bidders to leave feedback until they have exhausted all options.
Non paying bidders should not be allowed to leave retalitory feedback. This is a big problem with a lot of sellers. The 1st time feedback is used there should be a guideline so undeserved neutrals & negatives are not left until buyer or seller tries to resolve a problem.
With all the profits ebay makes, they need to part with some of that money in the best interest of the "community" LOL...They force their own members to police the site. That is despicable and not equitable. New ebayers have no clue what they are supposed to leave as feedback so they frequently leave neutrals over the slightest thing. There should be a panel to oversee and mediate any negative feedback someone wishes to leave. Ex: I have a customer who was not happy. I refunded all of his money. He now refuses to return the purchase till I can no longer request my listing fees back. He has 65 negatives, I have none and ebay will not even respond to my emails for help. Their system is totally broken. Doesn't work. I reported 32 sellers of Louis Vuitton Purse who had dozens of new 0 feedback bidders obviously shill bidding. I documented all of these for weeks and nothing was done to any of them. Crooks win yet ebay pulls listings of good sellers for one little word that violates their rules. I listed ebay's phone numbers and addresses on discussion boards and was immeidately threatened with suspension.
deadbeats should not be allowed to leave feedback for sellers; ebay should have a more robust system for screening / blocking potential deadbeats while the auction is still "live". e.g. filters that allow you to automatically block members with recent negs, too many negs, newbies, etc. i'm not saying that all newbies are bad buyers, but 90% of our deadbeats are newbies. blocking members AFTER they proved to be deadbeats is a joke, since the damage has been done. buyers have far more protection than sellers on ebay, and sellers already are more vulnerable; the inadequate feedback system simply makes it worse.
I believe if Ebay would look at their community postings they would find solutions to the problems they experience not only with feedback but many other things. The upper management at ebay only looks at what they might make not at the effects decisions have on sellers.
I don't think a buyer should be able to leave feedback at all until the item is paid for. This would eliminate someone bidding merely because they don't like the seller and leaving negatives one minute after the auction ends.
A seller has a lot more on the line than a bidder--her reputation is translated into dollars & cents. Allowing bidders (especially newbies) to leave neutral or negative FB, especially when a seller has had to apply the NPB warning or applied for FVF on that item penalizes the seller with the threat of retaliatory FB. I hate the "new" FB system. I also think EVERY TRANSACTION with an item number deserves to be COUNTED! I paid to insert it & a customer who continues to buy from me COUNTS with me!
I am actually guilty of leaving retalitory feedback myself and I guess in one instance of extortion because I told her if she left negative for me she'd get it right back. Sometimes you have to fight fire with fire.
Don't allow non paying bidders to leave feedback. Force buyers to communicate through an eBay forum, before being able to leave feedback.
If a NPB has been filed against someone they should not be able to leave feedback. Feedback should be reviewed at the request of the person who recieved it and if retalitory or derogatory or wrong it should be removed.
Do not allow retailiatory feedback! It's often QUITE obvious when this is done. I don't think an accurate picture can be drawn because SOOOO many eBayers are afraid to leave negative/neutral feedback because of fear of retailiatory. So the rest of us don't have a true view of the person's selling/buying habits. I'm very active on an Online Auctions Board, and know this to be true from all of the discussions on retailiatory feedback that the sellers have had. ALSO...... If a seller has reported a "buyer" as Non-Paying Bidder, do NOT allow that "buyer" to leave feedback!!
I would keep the feedback left for a transaction unavailable to the other party to see until they post feedback too.
bY SUPPLYING A SEPARATE LINK TO VIEW ALL OF A SELLER OR BUYER'S NEGATIVE FEEDBACK, SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO SCROLL THROUGH ALL OF THEM.BY NOT ALLOWING THOSE WHO DID NOT COMPLETE A TRANSACTION TO LEAVE FEEDBACK....THAT IS WHERE A LOT OF RETALIATORY FEEDBACK COMES FROM. WHEN NEG. FEEDBACK IS BEING LEFT IT SHOULD FIRST GO TO A NEUTRAL PARTY TO FIND OUT THE PROBLEM AND BE SURE THAT IT IS TRULY DESERVED, ETC.
Cancel the mutual feedback system and go back to the original system including the old NPB plus make the path more tortuous if leaving adverse feedback. Some form of control over newbies leaving negs would be advisable ie enforcing attampted reconciliation first
I would disallow retaliatory negs, and feedback from any NPB should be prohibited.
Agree on a time that is appropriate to leave feedback. I say the buyer should leave feedback when item received and then seller leaves feedback.
1) Non-paying bidders should not be allowed to leave feedback for that seller. 2) Feedback option should not be allowed until a certain number of days pass, to ensure delivery of said item. Too many times buyers "buy" just to post bad feedback, usually the result of a competitor
The main thing is to not let anyone with under 25 buys or sales on Ebay leave feedback until they realize the importance of being truthful about what they bought or what they sold and hurting anothers persons reputation for retaliation. Also your negatives should be dropped after...... say a year, with at least 100 new positives. At least I would want to build my positives back up if I knew the % would change in my feedback. Now I know the negs are not going away and it doesnt give an incentive to build it back up again.
Because of the threat of retaliatory feedback, I think most feedback is less than honest. I look at it as a general indicator only. I am more interested in the number of transactions a person has completed, rather than in what their feedback says.
I would not allow bidders with poor or questionable records to leave feedback. Ebay should closely monitor fb comments and disallow vulgarity ( and rotten spelling too!)
#1 Most important issue in my opinion is this: A bidder who has not paid for an item should not be allowed to leave feedback of any type - until they pay they are not even a customer.
Don't think you can really improve the system. It is adequate. When you are dealing with human beings of varying opinions and styles, it is my feeling you must do so with caution, knowing that the outcome is beyond your control. I try to use effective, detailed, clear communication, making clear to buyer or seller what is acceptable to me or not acceptable, and giving a consequence. I beleive that I am a fair and reasonable person to do business with and I expect the same from others. For the most part, I believe the EBay community is very honorable. I have had approx 1,000 buy and sell transactions, and have had problems with only about 4/5 sellers and only 2 buyers.
I would have an on the phone mediation between buyer and seller- similar to small claims- if one refuses to participate then that is noted in the feedback.
Once a buyer is reported for non-payment, they should be blocked from leaving feedback.
I wish I knew. Though it hasnt been in the last 6 months, I have been the vivtim of retalitory feedback and extortion, via feedback. Now, I almost never leave negative feedback, I just pass the seller by, and vice versa. I know the system needs fixing, but .. given time and money constraints, I am not sure how to go about it, other than investigateing all negative feedbacks, that are complained about. Myself, and several others, all complained to ebay about that particular seller, well documented, and nothing could be done. Then to my horror, she received a Sqyare Trade approval.. How? I dont know, but I withdrew from Square Trade, as I couldn't see the point any more
If someone could figure that out, I think we should put him on a mission to solve the problems in Iraq. Ebay won't listen anyway. It used to be the greatest site on the internet. Now it is a corporate pig!
Establish a board of arbitration for people who feel they received negative feedback unfairly so that if they were deemed innocent the feedback would be deleted.
If a neutral or a negative is trying to be left have an automatic email go to the person so that the problem can be worked out if there is a problem. If a buyer has less than 10 feedback does not have the option of leaving a neutral or negative as they never understand the feedback system.
There should be some weighting or limits on who can leave feedback. A negative from a newbie on a $5 item looked just as bad for us as if we had taken a negative from a mature buyer on a $1000 item. When a NPB dispute is in place, it should deprive the non-paying party from the right to leave feedback.
Non-paying bidders should not have a right to leave feedback. Should a winning bidder choose not to pay, they are no longer part of the transaction. C'mon Ebay ~ where are your fees coming from!
1. For Unpaid Items where buyer receives a strike, buyer should not be able to leave feedback if they never paid or responded to seller.
when a person leaves bad feedback for no reason. when people leave a net. feedback for no good reason. or when people do not leave feedback. it should be easier to get rid of bad feedback left for no reason, and complety removed from ebay.
Some sellers do not give negative feedback when they should for fear of retaliatory feedback.
Make it impossible for people to leave retaliatory negative feedback. When you let eBay know you're being threatened with feedback extortion they should prevent the person from leaving the negative feedback. They should also let you know what was done to the person that treatened you. In my case it seems nothing was done and I received an undeserved negative.
Prevent both buyers and sellers with less than a 98% feedback rating from leaving negative feedback without going through a screening process first.
If Ebay gives the seller a Final Value Fee Credit, then they should not allow the buyer to leave negative feedback. Ebay trusts the seller's word about the bad transaction enough to refund their Final Value Fee, so why should they allow the buyer to harrass the seller even more with a negative feedback.
NPBs should not be allowed to leave feedback - Should get points for all comments - not just "unique" - I have many repeat customers (my FB is 4700+ - but my total feedback rec'd is 8000+) - I believe a repeat customer is a much bigger sign of doing things right than a + feedback!
They need to remove any negative/neutral feedback from people who do not pay. I personally do not leave negative feedback for buyers because I do not want retalitory feedback. I only file NPB. Sellers should not have to live in fear of this. We should be able to leave accurate feedback without fear. Other sites I have sold on removed unwarranted feedback.
Improve system by adding categories/steps of buying/selling process: 1. Payment 2. Receipt/Delivery of item 3. Quality of service/item 4. All round experience rating 5. General comments
By not allowing feedback to seller once a NPBA has been filed. Making it easier to recind negatine feedback. I think ebay now charges @20.00 for a dispute, that's extortion, if you ask me. While there are some "Bad" sellers, I think there are many more buyers who are just playing around and having "Fun". Just last week some buyer when on a wild spending spree. ebay seems to set more limits and pass on higher fees to sellers while encouraging buyers wih a "Pay Less - Get it For Your Price - Buy Cheap!" mentality.
NPBs should not be able to leave feedback. I have no less than 4000 NPBs which I have not left negative because I know they will post NEGs for me.
As I have been given negative retaliatory feedback by fraudulent sellers I feel there needs to be something more as a protection for buyers. There are non paying bidder tags, what about non delivering sellers?
Ebay guidelines should say: no transaction is complete until both seller and buyer are satisfied with the transaction. Therefore leaving feedback by either party prior to the item(s) being in the buyer's hands is inappropriate.
Neg FB for Sellers should be removed if transaction did not proceed for invalid reasons. FB Extortions rules should be expanded to include any emailed threats of leaving neg FB in return for any additional consideration including leaving positive FB before the other party does. Neg FB left by Buyers should be removed from all Sellers they dealt with in last 6-months if Buyer is Narud (no longer a registered member).
Allow disputed FB to be resolved easier. If mutuall withdrawn, FB should no longer appear.
Block a non-paying buyer from leaving feedback once reimbursement of fees has been filed for.
(250 characters to write your response.) That would be great ebay only gives 80.
eBay should remove retaliatory or inflammatory feedback at the user's request. Half.com feedback should be separate. When someone purchases more than one of your auction items, you should have that counted toward your total feedback, not just one time....
Non-payin bidders should NOT be allowed to leave feedback since they have not completed a transaction. Or they should have a separate column for negatives that came from a NPB
i dont know!
#8 is based on reading eBay discussion boards. I believe that eBay should investigate any negative feedback that has obvious overtones of being malicious or retaliatory in nature & any member found guilty should be suspended. Any member found guilty should have any other registered ID's suspended as well.
Ebay shopuld get more involved in negative feedback retailiations
Force sellers to leave feedback FIRST if they wish to participate in the Feedback Forum.
Perhaps a team of mediators to evaluate and remove retalitory feedback?
Although I have no negative experience with feedback, I hope that if I do receive negative feedback, that I have at least a reasonable chance of appeal to eBay. Currently, as I understand things, a person who either is dissatisfied, mischievous, unpleasant, etc., may leave negative feedback without suffering any consequence. I should not have to pay a service to remove this kind of feedback. Hopefully, eBay is accountable to this measure. I think eBay shoud take an active role in preventing negative feedback - similar to the way that measures are undertaken to resolve non-paying bidders. Thanks!
In general I'm satisfied with the feedback system on eBay.
eBay needs to remove feedback, from your listing, if it is several years old. Can have a neg from a retalitory feedback and it sits on your listing year after year after year....
A person should have experience on ebay before being able to leave feedback. They should have at least 100 feedbacks.
If people want to leave negative feedback they should have to go through a series of questions from Ebay. Most of the time when people are not happy they don't even bother to email the seller. Most buyers that use ebay have no idea how feedback works and Ebay takes no responsibility and gives very little help.
Feedback for all auctions won by a single buyer should be counted. For example, if 10 auctions are won by a single buyer, currently only one feedback is counted. I want all 10 to count.
A Non-Paying Bidder should not be allowed to leave ANY feedback
There needs to be a shorter time limit, after which date feedback can no longer be left by either party.
I don't know how they would do it, but if a buyer never pays me, he should not be able to leave feedback. Enforcing that would require something like all payment to go thru PayPal, and I would NOT want that either. All in all, I think the feedback system works pretty well.
BIdder would are NPB should not be able to leave feeback and buyers with less than a 10 rating also should not be able to leave feedack until rating is a 10. Once a member is no longer registered on eBay feedback let for others should be removed.
Buyers would not be allowed to leave feedback if they have a NPB on that auction, it would be blocked or not show on their "leave FB" page.
The option to leave follow up feedback AFTER leaving POSITIVE feedback to someone. I believe that eBay's system only allows comments for negs or neutrals. In other words, a buyer pays, positive feedback is left. Then perhaps they file a chargeback or the transaction turns nasty for some reason. It would be nice to be able to leave follow up feedback after you've already left the positive one.
We often do not leave honest (negative) feedback to preserve our excellent rating in fear of Retaliatory Feedback. Getting unfair negs removed takes an act of congress.
I believe that eBay should remove negative feedback for just cause as feedback left in many cases is totally uncalled for & blemishes an otherwise excellent seller. Perhaps a system where it's a multiple choice (more detailed than excellent to poor) instead of the buyer/sellers own words.
feedback was a heated topic at the recent ebay university event i recently attended. the main issue was buyers who were to quick to leave negative feedback, as a result to bad communication. i suggested that when a buyer/seller chose to leave negative feedback, there should be a prompt saying, having u done the following things - before resulting in leaving negative feedback. contact the seller, read the sellers faq, etc etc. if the buyer/seller had completed all the required checkpoints, then only should they be able to go ahead and leave neg feedback. also the fact that ebay is unable to remove feedback older than x amount of months, when both seller and buyer are willing to do a mutual feedback removal. if the comment reflects in ur feedback summary, then it is still stored in some or other database - therefore should technically still b able to be removed..
Investigate more in ways to get rid of retaliatory feedbacks and scam feedback.
As a seller I would make it harder for some one to leave Neg Feedback because they were unhappy for a item Or were going to play the old switch a demaged item for the good one you sent them. This make me upset I do try to remember to mark my high dollars pieces so only a black lite can see my marks. I have accepted returns onl to find that the person switched the item and no marks mine were found on the piece. Thank you I did form a group in ebay about feedbacks and non paying bidders not to may members.
I do not leave negative feedback when it is deserved because I am afraid of retaliation. I usually just leave nothing, I think Ebay should offer more room for text to a seller in order to explain retaliatory feedback. I do not have a solution for retaliatory feedback but the system should be changed so that a seller is not inhibited from giving negative feedback if it is deserved. That is the biggest problem, in my opinion.
A person should not be allowed to leave feedback if they are a deadbeat and don't complete the transaction. Non-paying bidder alerts and final value fees returned should be displayed as a part of feedback.
Make it easier to remove, or modify, feedback if it's been left accidentally and the person leaving it admits such. Crack down on obvious retalitory feedbacks, with possible loss of selling/buying privileges.
Provide more typing space for buyer/seller commentary & narrative about transactions.
Unfortunately, it can't be changed in any major way as the feedback system is the foundation of eBay. While the feedback system works to a degree, eBay should embrace more third-party trust and safety tools to provide a safer shopping environment. eBay also needs to provide new material to Hani Durzy as his "broken-record" comments on the extent of the eBay fraud problem are becoming tiresome!
Offer more features to make it easier for buyers to leave feedback.
I think it serves its purpose well. I don't know what eBay can do to make people leave feedback more regularly and not use Feedback as a means of threatening.
Require feedback from all participants by constantly reminding buyers & sellers to leave feedback until they do it.
A Non Paying Bidder should not be allowed to leave feedback. This system is ripe for abuse and because of it, I do not even bother to leave feedback for negative expierences. eBay also has a system in Motors where they will mediate feedback for an excess fee (around $100). I do not understand why it cots $100 for something that should be done in the firstplace. Extortion is also a big problem.
Whoever at EBay came up with the idea that "repeat customers" don't deserve a positive feedback is nuts. When I was in business, I valued "repeat customers" more than any other. Ebay doesn't let them count!!!!
There needs to be a better system for people that don't pay or are remorseful and leave negatives. They also need to be able to block a seller from another country if you specify to be contacted BEFORE BIDDING.
Would like something done about being able to leave ACCURATE Feedback w/out fear of a STRICTLY RETALIATORY response.
we feel that the moment a FVF is granted for non-paying, unresponsive buyer, that the NPB'er should not be permitted to leave feedback.
Once someone is filed as a non-paying bidder - they should not be able to leave feedback on that item.
As far as I can see, every "improvement" would create a new set of problems.
Once a NPB report and, subsequently, a FVF is successfully submitted, the NPB should NOT be allowed to leave feedback for that transaction.
eBay has no interest in changing their feedback system. It would NOT increase their profits!
I understand from a colleague that eBay's Square Deal programme is helpful in sorting out feedback issues. Therefore I cannot suggest anything else
Their bulk feedback page does not show the feedback left by the buyer or seller so you can respond accordingly. That would be a great addition.
Feedback for buyers does not make sense to me. I can go anywhere else on the internet and purchase somthing and not have to worry about any form of feedback.
This question answer's itself. It is quite difficult to convey what needs to be said when you only have 80 characters in which to do so. To improve it they must allow more than 80 charaters or at least some type of feedback colume. The feedback method as it is now does NOT tell the full story of a seller, or buyer!
More eBay staff to review abuses and remove them automatically for being abuses.
I'm not sure how to bring the feedback system up to par. I know it does not work and I get very upset every time I sell on ebay because of feedback. My only netural feedback was years ago when I was a newbie, the buyer sent a money order to the wrong address,I had tried to contact him regarding non payment. When I did receive the money order, I sent him copies of his envelope with the wrong address, copies of my emails and my apology (for what,I don't know) and he gave me a bad feedback about being a month late on sending out the item. To this day it upsets me.
Should be based on non emotional results like when something was paid for and when it was received -- timelyness and whether it was as stated. Factual - not emotional.
Ebay should provide Arbitrators for extreme cases: I've friends who were taken to Court because they left a neutral feedback comment after the purchase. Ebay did nothing to assist them and they will never use ebay again. I can't think this whole thing was necessary!
I hate the feedback system, it can be used in a negative way by NEW EBAYERS and crooked EBayers, I have been a victim of Feedback extortion and was so angry, I went to Ebay chat to talk to a member of the Ebay staff and they more or less told me to do what the Buyer asked. It is SO lop sided .. it needs to change. You cannot relax until feedback is left, irregardless of whether you did the job properly or not!
I would have some type of reminder system so more feedback is left.
Some system to prevent dead beat non-paying high bidders from leaving retalitory negative feedback.
Tie in FeedBack with Payment Recieved in my EBay to avoid NPB from posting negative FeedBack.
If an item is filed Non Paying...they cannot leave feedback for the seller.
Bidders should be BLOCKED from leaving feedback on transactions they do not complete (NPBs)!
Count multiple feedbacks from same buyer/seller - even Jay & Marie will eventually have to slow down - it is a finite number
Place a threshold on new buyers. They don't understand the system.
1, FB should not be open to NPBs 2. FB should not be available to closure by mutual consent 3. FB should not be available to anyone that PayPal certifies has received a full refund 4. New members must receive 5 positive FBs before they can leave FB for others. 5. Easier removal process.
I would allow negative feedback to be corrected. I once had a woman not receive my money order. She left nergative feedback. A neighbor brought the misdelivered money order over to her a month later. I had already sent her another money order but had also received the negative feedback.
Require attempt at resolution before allowing negative feedback.
I would have eBay's system leave an automatic negative to the buyer when the seller files for a credit. The negative would be clearly indicated that it was left by eBay (with the reason) and not by a seller. The buyer could not retaliate to this comment. In fact the buyer could not leave feedback at all after this since the transaction was terminated.
I would not allow retalitory feedback. If I give a negative or neutral for non payment, the buyer should not be allowed to leave a negative or neutral.
1. 24 hours after seller receives payment from PayPal, if seller does not send positive, it is automatic. 2. After 30 days, buyer cannot bid if prior feedback has not been left for sellars. 3. Manditory to attempt to contact buyer or sellar before Negative can be left.
Make it easier to pull up negatives and neutrals, without having to sort through all of them. Make it possible to TAKE BACK a negative feedback, if you want to. Too often, customers are hastely leaving neg feedback, and then regretting it, after they receive satisfaction. Sellers with an over abundance of negatives, should be chastized ie:suspended for a SHORT time, or lose some standing. Ebay HAD that practice, before it became public. THREE NEGATIVES within a short time, got you suspended, or at least a threatening letter.
I would give the seller the option of giving non-payers a negative without a retaliatory negative. Having given out 10,000 feedback I can say with a high degree of certainty that the system is pro buyer. As a volume dealer I never have time to look at the buyers FB, but as a seller, YOU SURE LOOK AT MINE. A negative hurts me a lot more than it hurts a buyer.
Non-payer's would not be able to leave feedback. And although ebay would be flooded with requests to remove retaliatory feedback, they should do it. Also, if it's proven a buyer is known for leaving bad feedback, they would be locked out of leaving any feedback at all. They could receive it, but not be able to give it. Ebay needs to start protecting the seller's. The buyer's aren't going anywhere.
Educate BIDDERS about the percentages and meanings. In my opinion, it is easy as a seller to maintain 99% or higher. To a bidder, 98% sounds great, but to an experienced seller, we know that could be a sign of problems. Buyers could be taught that. NPBs shouldn't be allowed to leave a negative.
I think the TOTAL number of feedbacks should be shown instead of the total number of UNIQUE feedbacks. This is not fair to a seller who has worked hard to establish and maintain a loyal client base....yet doesn't receive 'credit' for the feedback received from return buyers. It's just not fair.
Do not allow NPB's to leave retaliatory feedback.
I think it should be abolished and each incident should be private. If a buyer or seller is unsatisfied there should be a system in place for them to privately write to ebay and be analyzed by ebay before an automatic negative feedback can be left. Many negative feedbacks are unconsitituted.
Make is much easier to have obvious retaliatory feedback removed
When a buyer has defaulted on an auction and the seller has been issued a FVF refund, the buyer should not be able to leave any feedback on that transaction.
I believe that eBay should institute a "eBay Friendly" rating. This would be based on a grading system of leaving feedback to others (buyers or sellers)in a timely manner, or not. I believe this type of system would be the only way to let individuals know just how important their performance on eBay is after transactions are completed. A sort of Miss Manners rating if you will.
Twice I have been ripped off only to find when I go to leave neg feedback that the account has been closed. This needs to be addressed so that buyer's can find out about problems before paying. Both had significant positive feedback.
Prevent nonpaying bidders from leaving negative feedback.
I think that there should be a way to edit feedback when the content left is not what was intended. I am not speaking of changed "Positive" to "Negative" or the reverse. But simply to be able to edit a misspelled word or change an ambiguous meaning. eBay is fun because it does appear to be embedded in concrete (i.e. brick & mortar) I wish that feedback was not etched in stone.
I do not think non-paying bidders should be allowed to leave feedback. Retailiatory feedback is not fair to anyone -- I have seen some truly outrageous feedback left for sellers that should be deleted -- one was a criticism that a Lemony Snicket book's pages were uneven. Well, duh -- they are made that way!! How unfair. I saw a buyer get bad feedback because he did not pay in 48 hours -- this was over a weekend. These comments are unfair and don't give anyone useful information about the buyer or the seller just let you know there are vindictive people on ebay.
A standard feedback line should be entered by eBay if the buyer/seller doesn't leave his own feedback in a month after the sale. That way we know if this buyer/seller leaves feedback. I have sold over 400 items and only have feedback for 187. Now I don't leave feedback until the buyer does or I don't get a 1/3 of my feedbacks.
They do not give feedback from repeat buyers...It is crazy!! Also when a seller leaves feedback for no payment, they buyer should not be able to leave feedback at all...The whole system stinks....feedback is a game...push and pull...Sellers will not give a negative to a non paying bidder because of retaliation...You have to fill out the non paying bidder form and apply for FVF, why dosen't ebay leave them a negative? there counting feedback system stinks it is not correct, you let them know about it and you may as well beat your head against the wall...ugh...
Maybe a process where you can offer proof that you were unfairly extorted or threatened concerning feedback so that if you do receive retalitory feedback it can be removed. I recently had that happen where I received abusive email and for fear of retalition I didn't leave the NPB a feedback. I asked eBay if they would protect me from retalitory fedback if I left neg. feeback for this person but they said they couldn't. So now no one knows that this bidder is a deadbeat.
The only problem I have with feedback is both buyers and sellers emailing me following a transaction and soliciting feedback, saying that they won't be leaving feedback til I do. I try to leave feedback asap after a transaction, but sometimes life gets in the way, and it isn't as expediant as I would like, but usually within a week. To me, soliciting feedback is sort of like asking for a compliment -- kind of rude.
nonpaying bidders should not be able to leave fb, there should be someway to alert for fb extortion & prevent info from being held against your rating, finally new ebayers should be required to go through mediation before neg is left or must have fb reviewed before being placed against a seller.
EACH AUCTION/BUY NOW SHOULD HAVE A FEEDBACK COUNTED ... I just had a seller buy 5 different auctions. I leave her 5 - she gets only 1. That is NOT representative of the transactions that transpired ... Correct? I get 1 of 5 also. Looks rather idiotic to me!
Having feedback from the same seller count toward your total numbers even if you have purchased from that seller before. Right now if you purchase something from someone you have bought from before, the feedback will be displayed on your feedback site, but it will not be counted toward your total numbers.
Provide an optional "explanation" box for negative feedback that allows a little more space to explain the problem or complaint and sellers response.
Unsure to be honest.
I would implement a system for new buyers, explaining the feedback system, and the impact negative feedbacks have. 4 of the 5negs I have were from new buyers, who never bothered to contact me regarding the item. I would have returned their items had they contacted me. There should be more emphasis on Feedback for the beginner.
3rd party mediator with eBay to remove negative feedback left by nonpaying/noncommunicating bidder
By keeping the buying feedback completely seperate from the selling feedback. Show 2 different lines, total feedback buying and total feedbach selling.
Non paying bidders should receive automatic negative feedback from ebay once a NPB credit is issued to the seller. They should also be blocked from leaving neg feedback for the seller
If a person is suspended from eBay by eBay, any negative feedback they have left for users should be deleted. If several items end on the same day, eBay should not allow feedback (negative or positive) to be left for all items purchased by the same individual. Allowing this unfairly drives up the incidents of negative feedback if the parties have a disagreement. The last time I used a response to negative feedback, the person whose negative feedback I responded to was allowed to respond to my response. I couldn't then rebut the rebuttal. Enough! The person actually got two chances at me. I always look to see if a person has a history of leaving negative feedback for others if I'm tempted to leave negative feedback for a deadbeat bidder. If the person has done so, I won't leave negative feedback for fear of getting the same in return. If a seller has filed for and received a final value fee for a deadbeat bidder, the bidder should not be allowed to leave retaliatory feedback for the seller. The fact that they did not pay is reason enough to keep them from saying anything in public about the seller.
Non-paying bidders and Non-Performing Sellers should be limited to Pos+Neutral, no Negs from NPB's or NPS's.
Automated reminders for buyers to remind them to leave feedback for a transaction.
Please give more quidance to new ebayers.
Not allowing people who recieve negative feedback for non payment to leave Negative feedback for the seller.
There isn't much way to improve feedback systems when people are allowed to vent their tempers by leaving feedback. If a seller has tried to correct the problem, if indeed there is one, and gives a refund why should anyone be allowed to try to ruin them by nasty feedback. If the buyer doesn't read what they are buying in the first place why should they be allowed to leave bad feedback. I have advertised items and described them in detail but the buyer then doesn't know they are getting a paperback instead of a hardcover because they apparently didn't read. Now if a person really turns out to be a fraud I think others should be alerted.
Offer more specific catagories to check off. Buyer / seller specific service rating results chart. Examples: rate service, product description/ expectation results, packing, payment, etc.......have it all add up to a "service performance rating" program. Offer rewards and promote better performers. Insentive based!!!!!
Seller's should be required to give immediate feedback upon Buyer payment. Buyers should be required to file feedback when they receive items and if Seller reports no feedback after a period of time, Buyer should have one feedback point subtracted from their overall total.
I think that it seems to work great. At this time I don't have any ideas on how to improve it.
Make leaving feedback Mandatorily tied in with: Seller receiving payment, buyer receiving product. These are the times for feedback to be left, not if or when the trader feels like it. By the seller leaving feedback, the buyer is assured that his/her payment has been received and their product is on the way. When the buyer leaves feedback, both parties are assured that the transaction is complete and satisfactory.
NPBs are the biggest source of retaliatory FB. Once someone's NPB'd, they shouldn't be able to leave it for the seller. (Or there should be a system in place that allows them to leave FB, but no retaliatory).
I received a negative feedback over a year ago that was unfair....(did not reflect what truely happened). Person eventually was kicked off of ebay for getting so many negatives herself (she was a nut). So now, I'm stuck with a neg feedback. I feel a new policy should be made that if a person is kicked off of ebay, any feedback that they gave (past or present) should be removed from the system. I have no chance of removing it on my own as she is no longer an active ebayer.
1. get rid of all "private" features; 2) continue to allow responses to posted feedback, but make initial postings "double-blind" - the first-submitted comment is held in escrow until either the second comment is submitted or time for the second submittal has lapsed (they could leave the current periods for posting, but stipulate that once the first comment is submitted into escrow, the second party has a finite period, maybe 15-20 days to submit or the right to submit lapses). Thanks for listening. Tom
Do not allow no-pay, deadbeat bidders the current ability to leave feedback once the seller has to file (and receive) their final value fees. These people waste my time and money. BOTTOM LINE: THE CURRENT FEEDBACK SYSTEM STINKS!!! eBay does NOT care. Don't let them fool you.
Limit the number(of items they can bid on at a time) and dollar amount of newbies (below) 25 positives. Newbies have burned me twice in Motors with now followthru bids. One BIN for $44000. One High bid.
Sellers should have to leave feedback first...they rec'd their payment before buyer rec'd the item...therefore their 1/2 of the transactions end first. Especially now that ebay allows follow-ups to show in the feedback.
If a buyer receives a non paying bidder report, he should not be able to leave feedback until the report is cleared. This might help with reducing retalitory feedback. A buyer with low or no feedback, and several negatives, should be restricted in leaving nagatives.
The introduction of the percentage of positive feedback was a real plus. Another metric might be a weighted percentage, with recent feedback having a lot more influence than feedback years old. Then a trend of reduced service or a high jacked ID or a scam might be discernable more quickly.
Let people change the negatives within a certain time frame
let buyers and sellers post more than 80 charaters i order to be able to explain what really happened
I wish it was easier for sellers to block non paying bidders from leaving negative feedback.
When a sale or transaction is cancelled by either the buyer or seller after the auction closes, I think the transaction should be removed from both accounts so that irrelevant or negative feedback isn't left for a transaction that was never completed, or the feedback shouldn't be applied to the total on either account.
My problem, not addressed in your survey, is negative feedback from stupid buyers. i.e... A buyer does not know if the book I sold them was a first edition, It was, and I got a neg for nothing. I sell books on many venues, ebay only one of several. A books sells at the same time on ebay and another venue. I immediately refund the ebay seller and apologize....I get a negative feedback. The current system is only one of the reasons why I no longer sell books on ebay or half.com
NPB suould not be allowed to leave feedback
After 90 days close all possiblities of a buyer or seller leaving feedback. To me once the auction has been removed from the system so should the possiblity of leaving feedback.
1. Seller should have to provide a tracking number on each auction after it closes. In order to leave feedback for the buyer, this would have to be completed beforehand. 2.Buyer should only be able to leave negative fb if that tracking number was not provided on an auction or if they have an insurance claim number. Sellers with no tracking no. or Buyers with no claim number for damaged items, should not be able to neg anyone. Two fold result - feedback system is fairer and the Post Office makes more money (do we really want all the PO employees out of work to add to the economies ills?) If an insured item arrived damaged and the buyer was a responsible person, they'd immediately make a claim. So everyone is covered against "retaliatory" feedback.
Expectations never the same between buyer& seller causing feedback problems. Building trusted brands over eBay will be far more significant than feedback in the future removing ?caveat emptor?. See www.ukautosite.co.uk Thanks for a great news page.
please never paid should not be able to leave feedback for sellers.
I just think that eBay needs to promote the NPB and how important it is as that would get rid of the deadbeats. I don't think sellers realize that they don't have to leave a negative in order to file the NPB. The negative isn't what gets rid of the bad guy its the report of non payment. Other than that I don't know what to tell ya all.
Have the one leaving feed back rate the reciever 1 to 10 and then show the average. Would also like to see the feed percentage of buyers on the auction page when they bid. There is no reason for a person to only leave one feed back that counts--if there are 3 or 4 good transactions with the same person, there should be 3 or 4 more positive feed backs recorded.
Make it more of a ratings system such as rate the seller from 1-5, 5 being excellent and 1 being poor
Number one problem is if a buyer does not pay. If you leave negitive feedback you open yourself up to get neg back.
Count each auction not just unique wins.
Ebay needs to deal more harshly with NPBs. More than 3 NPBs they should be kicked off. Why not have all people who have 4 or more NPB complaints against them put on a special list so they can be blocked. The trouble is the NPB may leave you a bad feedback. No one wants a bad feedback - so they don't complain. That's why Ebay needs to deal directly with the NPB's to protect their sellers...
Do not allow Non-paying bidders to leave feedback.
Don't allow non-paying bidders to leave feedback.
give more space for you to write an explanation after you have received negative feedback.
Have Ebay assume more responsibility for the purpose and content of feedback. Allow feedback to be removed if case warrants...retaliatory feedback should be removed if it has been used. Ebay needs to take a much more active part in making sure the feedback page is used in the proper manner. They perpetuate the program's usage, so they should monitor it's guidelines/rules more carefully.
Find a way for a buyer using Half.com to easily leave feedback for a seller. I am sure a buyer knows how to leave a negative feedback on a "Half" sale, if a complaint is warranted. However, when it comes to leaving a postive feedback for a "Half" sale, the buyer seems to forget to enter it.
Feedback should be independant of the buyer/sellers feedback, not visible until both parties have left feedback.
they should not charge to remove retaliatory feedback
I would not allow a buyer to leave the seller negative feedback when they don't pay. I have gotten to where I don't leave the necessary negative feedback when I file for my non paying bidder fees back for fear of the retaliation against me, because it has already happened to me. If eBay would just fix this one problem it would go a long way in weeding out the non paying bidder.
As I said I'm new to all of this, but I have bought quite a lot of glass on ebay since 9/04. I am a very honest person, and I 'm not very impressed with sellers who email you right after the bidding telling me to leave good feedback and they will do the same for you. I did have one experience where 2 out of the three items I bought were broken. The seller shipped DSL and they were insured, but since the items were not that expensive and I was out-straight at work at the time, I didn't pursue it. I honestly thought the items were packaged very poorly and it was the seller's fault..not DSL, but since she emailed me back about contacting DSL, I did not give her negative feedback. It just wasn't worth pursuing because right now I'm a good buyer and a lot of sellers are saying they won't sell to buyers with any negative feedback. I do think the feedback keeps buyers and sellers on their toes overall, but I think there are sellers out there trying to beat the system by intimidating buyers with this feedback thing. I think this reasoning is backed up by one simple fact: there's hardly any negatives posted, but everyone complains about ebay. WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO TELLING THE TRUTH? I know I'm to blame too.
IF SOMEONE IS BEING BIDDER ALERTED FOR AN ITEM, THEY ARE UNABLE TO LEAVE FEEDBACK UNTIL ITEM IS PAID. IF IT IS NOT, THEY ARE STILL UNABLE TO LEAVE FEEDBACK , BUT THE SELLER CAN LEAVE WHATEVER THEY NEED TO(BECAUSE THAT IS WHEN MOST RETALITORY FEEDBACK OCCURS).
Once a seller gets to a rating of 500 or a 1000 the counting should stop, now call that seller a proven worthy seller.
Not allow nonpaying bidders to leave feedback. If they refuse to go through the UPI system and take care of things then they should be prevented from leaving feedback.
I wish there were a way to correct a feedback. Sometimes a slip of a finger, or a mistake in typing doesn't give a chance to correct the mistake. I have spoken to others who feel the same way.
I don't like that a buyers feedback may not count in your total # if they buy mult items. We have alot of mult item buyers and repeat buyers. It doesn't show a true number for our feedback numbers.
I have had sooooo many dead beat bidders recently I wish THAT problem would be addressed first. Retaliatory feedback is such a problem that I no longer leave negative feedbacks! It is not worth it when dead beats bring my stats down!
Need to have a way to have poor feedback investigated and removed if not found valid
put all negative feedback on one page from the last 3 years so the buyer can see the results of this retailer, special the power sellers with many feedbacks take to long to find !!!!!
Comments are permanant - this has to change.
I wish they didn't use the word "negative" when a customer is unhappy. It is just too harsh and I take each negative as a personal, character assault. It's about the transaction so "unhappy" would be better suited. I have seen negative feedbacks about how long the post office took to deliver the item - huh? What did that have to do with the seller? The whole feedback thing is too stressful!
For one, not allow people to leave feedback if they don't pay the seller.
Hard to say.....I do not leave negative feedback...if the transaction has gone sideways, I leave no feedback at all. This is because of past retaliatory feedback.
They should have some sort of mechanism for eliminating retaliatory feedback. Once left, it can't be erased from your record, even if it was unjustly given. Something similar to SquareTrade arbritration should be in place to allow these unjust feedbacks to be erased. Also, negative feedbacks for users under 50 feedback totals should be erased after users reach, say, the 100 mark. Some of those negatives are just because people don't know what they're doing. The main problem with negative feedback is that there is no way to redeem yourself, even if you have your act together or get it together later.
1.I would make it impossible for NPB's to leave feedback. 2.I would like the ability to leave a negative for NPB's after they have been NARU'd. SOmetimes I give a buyer the 3rd strike and am unable to leave feedback afterwards.
If a buyer or seller is removed for misconduct their feedback (especially negative) should be flagged. Also negative feedback from those who are no longer on eBay should be marked differently than from active traders.
By not allowing bidders or sellers to leave negative feedback if their feedback is less than 25. 25-50 with no negatives. If there is a problem then they can use square trade to mediate.
Every eBayer should get the equivalent of a feedback "get out of jail free" card. Thereby, you can delete ONE negative feedback from your profile. I've given up on the possibility that retaliatory negs could ever be vanquished from an eBayer's profile.....
The entire system obviously needs to be overhauled, but I'm at a loss as to how to repair it.
Buyer's who don't pay for an item should not be allowed to leave return feedback.
By finding a method of reducing retaliatory feedback. Perhaps there should be a mediator before negative/retaliatory feedback is posted so that both sides could clear up any misunderstanding before it is posted to someone's feedback and before it ruins another's reputation.
Count repeat customers feedback...make it easier to remove what is obviously retalitory or blatently slanderous feedback, impose penalty for retalitory feedback.I wish there was some way of encouraging people to leave feedback...I am lucky if I get 10-15%...that is one reason I think repeat customers ratings should be included...a repeat customer is a truly happy customer, or they wouldn't come back.I'm around 700 positive, with over 1100 total positive...which is a truer reflection of my business, and that is not counting those that don't bother to leave feedback. My biggest problem is people using the feedback in a negative way, when they have never notified me there was a problem.....even for items lost in the mail...and I get a negative when it would have been resolved by a simple e-mail. People JUST DO NOT READ OUR TOS....NOR THE EBAY WARNING ABOUT LEAVING NEGS.
I would not allow NPB or NARU'ed buyers/sellers to leave any feedback. We should be allowed to remove negative feedback under certain conditions.
I believe the feedback important. What I don't like is when a non paying buyer has a right to leave feedback as the transaction really didn't occur. Many times it's competitors that will create a new ID bid don't pay the leave bad feedback. eBay really needs to stop a non-paying buyer from leaving feedback! Only when the transaction takes place should feedback be allowed. How hard can that be to correct.
Retaliatory feedback problem needs to be addressed -if not then the whole system is useless as people will not give bad feedback for fear of getting it unfairly returned Perhaps a link to a blog page where both sides could write 250 words about the situation? ALSO and in any case negatives should drop off after say 2 years
1. Eliminate ability for NPB to leave feedback. 2. Ability to eliminate or change unfair feedback due to buyer's mistake or inexperience.
1. bar non paying bidders from leaving feedback 2. investigate complaints of retaliatory feedback more quickly and remove it.
Better policies to police retaliatory feedback. Big wish - ability to filter someone's feedback, seeing just negative.
Buyers should have to provide Ebay with information that they have tried to contact their sellers BEFORE they leave negative feedback.
I would have a neutral third party step in before negative feedback could be made.
Prevent non-paying bidders from leaving feedback.
Have eBay (not the seller) be the one who leaves negative feedback whenever the buyer doesn't pay, and kick them off permanently when they get three such negatives. Then ban that buyer from leaving a retaliatory negative, and then sellers would quickly see what bidders don't pay, and they won't be able to keep wrecking lots of auctions.
I think if somone doesn't pay and leaves negative feedback for the seller in retaliation, ebays should have a removal system that is more definite and enforced. I think anyone who gets 30-40 negatives in a 30 day period, should automatically BY EBAYS get flagged and looked into. I see high vlume selers who nay have 6 thousand feedback positive and then I see 5-15 negatives in the last month & that to me says "problem".
Buyer's & Seller's should be limited to their future transactions if feedback is not left within a specific amount of time, such as 30 days. Seller's should be more protected by eBay from retalitory feedback and also negative feedback that was given maliciously. New buyers should not be allowed to leave feedback without first going through a screening process to weed out any problems before leaving feedback. New buyers are NOT educated about the feedback process before allowing them to bid. Feedback for buyers and sellers should have the ability to seach and display ONLY the negs & neutrals on one screen so buyers could make more informed decisions regarding negatives. Selllers & buyers should have the ability to reply two times to feedback left instead of the one time response that is now in place
I don't like the fact that I can't sell more than one item for buy it now until feedback reaches ebays minimum. This costs me more listing dollars.
I don't know. The percentage of positives is very helpful. The previous system, when they simply posted the number of positives, was useless information.
If customer has NOT paid for item, feedback should not be allowed. Out of six negatives I have with ebay, five are customers who didn't even pay, after invoices and emails. Go figure.
nothing constructive to offer
It is harder to get where I want to go on Ebay. I have to search and search forever to find where to go for anything. It is a real mess now. Ebay is trying to make it so hard that it is easier to just forget about feedback and especially getting a refund if the buyer does not pay. Don't have time for such long and detailed things to do before you can get any where on Ebay these days.
Have more "points" to the system than just good, fair, bad. Also seaprate feedback for the merchandise and the experience. How about an escrow system? No feedback is revealed until both parties file.
As a seller, I find ebay leaves us with the "short end of the stick" when dead beat bidders, buyers can retaliate with a negative feedback of lies. I personally mark my calendar for the 90 day auction feedback period & then leave negative feedback last minute in hopes the buyer won't be alerted til it's to late!...so far I've been lucky, but would like to avoid this system if possible.
I would make it a bit easier to change the questionable ones to be decided by a feedback board.
Require verification of all members to ensure people are not signing up on eBay just to cause problems.
Retalitory feedback & extortion are a HUGE problem that should be addressed. One easy fix is that if a buyer wants to return goods, they should be allowed to w/o worry of neg FB. SEVERAL times I've rec'd JUNK and was told "too bad" & "If you leave bad feedback, I'll do the same" This is one CLEAR case where ebay should step in & 'protect' the injured party; + it tells others to watch out for this particular seller!
System works for the most part. However, a NFB should have a 30 day limit. That way a seller can leave FB first, after the 30 day period, even if they had not received FB yet. Just to do the right thing, by letting other sellers know that this person has made prompt payment and so forth. Sellers do not know if buyers are satisfied with purchase if no FB is left. And therefore afraid to leave PFB first, thinking NFB might show up, without a chance to resolve a problem.
There used to be reminders sent to buyers by ebay, urging them to complete a transaction by leaving feedback. I haven't seen any lately. I wish they would reinstate. I tried sending reminders to my own customers, urging them to leave feedback for the completed transaction. Some people really took offense! They seemed to think I was "too interested" in feedback and this was an annoyance. I've since stopped sending reminders unless I get an email from the customer telling me the package arrived. It seems in general that both buyers and sellers are LESS interested in leaving feedback. Some sellers I've noticed leave feedback such as "Thanks for your sale. Please return to NAME OF STORE soon." Such comments don't really help the feedback process at all.
Do not allow NPB to leave feedback. The major problem, as I see it, is eBay distances itself from the feedback process. When a user (buyer or seller) is an obvious problem, as evidenced via feedback and has been reported to eBay, there should be some consequence. Waiting until 3 NPBs are filed is too late- not all problems are NPB.
Give us the ability to block bids based on feedback and require blocked bidders to get permission prior to bidding. The majority of feedback problems come form bidders with low feedback who make negative comments without giving it a second thought because they are ignorant as to the severity of there comments and having nothing to loose by making these comments. I have had bidders use the feedback comments to ask when they would receive thier product and marked the comment as negative because 5 days had passed and the post offcie had not deliverd thier product yet. Ebay response to helping with negative feedback is absurd and I have nearly stopped using ebay over this issue alone.
Disallow feedback from nonpaying bidders; show feedback both ways within the same item in the list, along with the times they were given, so people can judge whether feedback was retaliatory
We rarely leave Neg feedback, even though we have had many Non Paying Bidder. These bidders should receive Negs, but since they can retaliate, it's not worth taking the chance. We know this is not fair to other sellers. They should be able to see the true feedback of a potential buyer. Until, ebay takes away the threat of retaliatory feedback, this won't happen! Surely in this tech era, it would be easy to deny a NPB to leave feedback on the item in dispute.
I would shorten the time span in which one can leave feedb. from 90 days to 60 days. That way most people would be more eager to get theirs and therefore leave it for others.
Feedback removal by eBay should be available in certain circumstances. As a seller, I feel that the system is unfair because of feedback extortion. Also, I like to give people with low feedback a chance (everyone has to start somewhere) but recently had a negative from a no feedback buyer with no communication whatsoever...it really feels unfair.
I would not allow non-paying bidders to leave negative feedback(after the seller has notified ebay and received a credit for fees)in retaliation for the seller leaving negative feedback for non-paying eBay buyers.
Non-paying bidders should NOT be able to use the feedback system!
Once a seller files an UID, buyers SHOULD NOT be able to leave feedback UNLESS dispute is settled and both parties are happy with the outcome. Buyers should be required to leave feedback first in order to receive feedback from seller.
If a seller has to file to receive FVF fees back because the buyer has not paid, the buyer should not be allowed to leave feedback. If a bidder has been NARU'd, resulting in the seller filing a UPI dispute, and is reinstated before the 90 days for leaving feedback is up, they should not be able to leave feedback. If a buyer can prove a seller is a non performing seller, the seller should not be able to leave feedback.
Add to FB: 1 - Number of completed NPB's recorded (buyers) 2 - Number of completed fraud filings (sellers) FB auto removed for transactions where you were successfully filed against (NPB or Fraud).
Keeping it simple is what eBay does well with it's feedback tool. It would be nice if it would track how many days it took for feedback to be posted after the end of auction. Also if the buyer cold indicate how long it took for the item to arrive after auction closes.
After 40 days ebay should email people who have not left feedback with a link to the exact auctions. Or maybe after 60 days or whatever make it so they can't sell or buy anything else until they leave some type of feedback.
Up to this point I've not encounted major problems, so being from the old school, don't mess with it if the thing works.
eBay should remove false or undeserved retaliatory feedback. People should not be afraid to use Neutral more often, for instance if a buyer sends payment very late or gives you a hard time or if you receive an item that is adequate but less than what you expected, or shipped very late.
Don't let sellers rate buyers. Thus eliminating retaliatory feedback and feedback extortion. Use other means to identify and sanction problem buyers. Also eliminate positive feedback for sellers. I want to know total transactions, negative feedback, plus other info on buyer currently available.
When a person reaches a certain amount of negs in a certain period of time they should be automatically suspended - if a certain level of negs are reached, then permanent suspension - current system relies on users to complain to eBay and it seldom works on behalf of those who have been cheated
Change the rating system like they use on Gun broker.com which uses a grading system like in school which ranges from poor an "F" to A+ with minus and plus increments.
1. Have some sort of feedback appeal system to eliminate unfair, retaliatory or "regretted" feedback entries. 2. Eliminate "Hidden" feedback records. What good is the feedback if the world can't see it?
Would leave more room for responses to negatives. Make new buyers and sellers on eBay be on "probation" with the feedback they leave up to scrutiny. Get tougher with eBay feedback extortioners by penalizing them with suspension. Make it easier to contact someone at eBay regarding feedback problems. A seller has to jump through hoops to get anything done.
1.Allow for more than 80 chars for a comment. 2.Link feedback to Upaid Item dispute messages. 3.Implement buyer block (in preferences) based on FB levels for U.S. and Intl bidders. Current settings allow for block of FB -1 thru -3 only. Over 15% of my transactions result in Unpaid Item disputes, mostly from 0 FB users.
Be able to veiw just negatives and neutrals. And then be able to analyze for yourself the whole picture. Most people are smart enough to do this. Able to completely remove negatives that are not true, becuause the person is new and did not follow ebays rules. This hurts sellers the most, when new people leave negatives because they do not understand how the system works.
Buyers should not be able to leave negative feedback before contacting the seller to try to work things out. Most times, a favorable solution could be worked out if there is adequate communication. It is the lack of communication that seems to be the biggest problem.
A non-paying bidder should not be able to leave feedback as it is almost always retaliatory.
Having unfair / misleading feedback removed
Not allow any negative feedback unless the buyer or seller has first contacted the person using eBay's contact information. Remove derogatory feedback or those left by people who are kicked off eBay.
Allow 60 days for incoming buyer/seller feedback, but post feedback only after it has been received from both buyer and seller, or after 60 days (or some other preset time limit) has elapsed. Thus buyers/sellers would never see each other's feedback until they had independently written their own, or it was too late to respond. Thanks, Joe Zeligs, MD (zdoc)
some safety factor should be available for sellers to have a proven false negative feedback removed. same for a retaliatory feedback from buyer that got a negative from you for non-payment, etc. I hesitate to leave a negative for a bad buyer, because they can slam me with an undeserved negative. needs to be some way to prove and have removed from a sellers record. thanks for asking this question !
Either have an option to have an agreement between buyer and seller before feedback is left - a contract say. NPB's or Buyers with Unpaid Item Strikes should never, ever be allowed to leave feedback for a seller. eBay needs to mediate more in these matters - the company is too hands off in getting involved. OK, don't get me started - the Feedback system is just awful.....
Do whatever needs to be done to prevent feedback to have the potential as retaliation for having left negative feedback.
eBay should not allow bidders with less than a rating of 20 to leave negative feedback. Generally, these new bidders don't understand the eBay culture yet.
I would have consequences when a person lies on Ebay - period. There should be ways a buyer or seller can get justice. The way it's set up now, when somebody wants to "get" you for something (even if it's something the other person didn't even do on purpose or something someone is just mad about) they can ruin your reputation and even are allowed to completely LIE. There is no recourse for the other person. This is not fair at all. Also, people who threaten or stalk should be investigated and arrested. I had a bad experience with a customer and it made me afraid to do business in case the customer would do another bad thing to me. I am still very leery of selling. I may do it again, but the experience was not good. The person is allowed to lie on feedback. This is just plain wrong. The lie should be taken off. There should be a way for Ebay to do this, if it's a lie. It can wreck a seller's reputation and make it very hard to get back where they were.
Ebay should not allow people who have had NPB's filed against them to leave feedback for the seller - it's almost always retaliatory. They also need to better educate new users towards proper use of the feedback system (and eBay in general) - it seems most negs are left by newbies that did not try to resolve the situation first.
My biggest complaint is that when a seller cancels a transaction due to bidder nonpayment, the nonpaying auction winner is still allowed to leave feedback for the seller. eBay needs to change that policy! I don't usually leave feedback for the auctions that I have had to file with eBay to cancel for fear of retaliatory negative feedback. It's not right that I don't give those bad buyers negative feedback for fear of receiving negative feedback in return. But it's not right that those nonpaying bidders are allowed to leave feedback for me when I have done nothing wrong.
I would definitely focus on non-paying buyers who can still leave retaliatory negative feedback should you as a seller leave negative feedback first stating that the winner is a non-paying buyer. Ebay has not address this issue for ages and this is tantamount to sellers as it is their selling reputation at stake.
Ebay should send reminder notices to both buyers and sellers if they have not left feedback within a 15 to 30 day timeframe. There should be a better tool to withdraw negative feedback. There could be extenuating circumstances that the buyer/seller were not aware of when they left the feedback.
Don't allow people to hide feedback, eliminate users who accumulate too many negatives,
Priority 1, 2 & 3: Prohibit non-paying buyers from leaving feedback for a seller. 4 Separate Trading Assistant feedback from other. 5 Separate Trading Assistant by location (UPS).
Once I have filed for and received a FVF against a buyer, Feedback should be locked out for that transaction against both buyer and seller. Exceptions: If the buyer or seller has already left feedback, then the other person should be permited to leave feedback at any time.
SEPARATE HALF.COM FEEDBACK (FAR LESS PERSONAL TRANSACTIONS) FROM EBAY. LET NEGATIVE FEEDBACK OVER 2 YEARS DISAPPEAR FROM FEEDBACK RATING. NOT FORCE US TO PAY $20 TO SQUARE TRADE ( i AM SURE EBAY PROFITS FROM THIS SOMEHOW) TO GET UNFAIR FEEDBACK REMOVED.
Disallow feedback from buyers who refused to pay for the item purchased.
Non payers who have had a strike filed against them cannot leave negative retaliatory feedback
Do not allow feeback for a transaction in which FVF's were granted.
require sellers to leave accurate feedback upon receipt of payment that meets the terms stated in the listing TOS; automatic notice to buyers & sellers that feedback has not been left
1st biggest problem is non-paying bidders being able to leave feedback. Seller gives them a strike and they can leave feedback. Other is feedback that is left by a buyer who is no longer registered (this used to be neutralized). People are messing with PowerSellers. Winning aucions & immediatly leaving feedback with no intention on paying. Feedback should not be able to be left 1 second after the auction closes. - Mark Newton - iSold It 248.449.2848 mark@isolditmi.com
Have negatives together so they can all be seen at one time. It takes too much time for the buyer to try and search months/years of feedback for this important information. After all, it is supposed to help the buyers, not make it harder for them. This is my biggest gripe with eBay as a whole.
Give the seller with a great number of positive feedbacks the benefit over a buyer with negative feedback.
stop buyer from leaving feedback on non paid for items
Not letting a non-paying bidder leave any type of feedback
Allow for more characters in the feedback. Sometimes you cannot leave proper feedback with the limit of characters now allowed.
if sort by type of item could be utilized to see feedback for type of item or price category ,this would be extremely useful.
Make it part of the bidding/paying/receiving system
nON PAYING BIDDERS SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO GIVE SELLER NEGATIVE FEEDBACK
I would suggest to e-bay that they remove the line that suggests it is standard protocol for the seller to leave feedback as soon as payment is received. This is just the first part of the transaction and I believe is too early to evaluate the actual business relationship. Much can happen after that initial payment. With newbies especially I have had to dance around their expectations for feedback. On the page where it implies that feedback should be given immediately I would suggest that E-bay create a fill in space that states up-front the Seller's feedback policy so that the policy is clear and stated in a good place. I find myself putting it in the description slot, but that means I have to remember to do it every time and I am sure that not everyone reads the full descriptions.
It should not be possible for a non-paying bidder, confirmed by the ebay NPB system, to leave any feedback on the non-paid-for item.
Delete feedback that is obviously retaliatory. Remove all feedback left by buyers that are NARU'd. Disallow any feedback from NPB.
shut off feedback when procedures, such as non-paying bidder, are initiaited.
Eliminate the possibility of retaliatory feedback by allowing the seller to remove them for free. Dave Cofone Breakout Sales Ltd. breakoutsales
Make it a requirement that whne you buy and sell you must leave feedback. Work on a plan for this.
Making it easier to navigate between the various items I need to leave feedback.
There are some that have tons of negative feedback but still do business on eBay or can come back under another name...I see no value unlesss these concerns are addressed.
SIMPLE, ONCE NEGATIVE FEEDBACK HAS BEEN LEFT FOR A NON PAYING BIDDER, AND A FINAL CREDIT FEE HAS BEEN GIVEN BY EBAY, THE BUYER SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO LEAVE ANY FEEDBACK ON THE TRANSACTION ONCE HE RECEIVES A NPB STRIKE.
An "Excellent/Very Good/Adequate/Fair/Poor" system would be better *but probably impossible for eBay to manage (I mean, would it make them more money? probably not, LOL)*
People should receive reminders from Ebay if they receive feedback but do not leave it for a transaction. It should be compulsory to leave it for every transaction and nasty feedback with insults etc. SHOULD be removed immediately. I have seen incredibly insulting feedback given in retaliation and don't think there is anyplace for such behaviour.
Once a FVFC is filed for, E Bay should not allow the buyer to leave feedback.
If you received a negative feedback that was unjustified that you could file a complaint. If valid, with proof it would be removed.
People that have a NPB filed against them should not be able to leave feedback.
Provide feedback opportunity for feedback on non-transactions (people who are especially helpful). Also, categories of feedback - maybe sale is good but packing was terrible, or shipping fees were excessive - that type of thing. Perhaps columns where feedback can be left on several aspects, resulting in an over-all average number.
eBay seems to lean more toward Buyers for everything including feedback. It near to impossible to get a negative removed & getting response from eBay, other than a computer generated email, is next to impossible sometimes.
If you want to leave negative feedback for someone, it should be a bit harder to do. The biggest problem are thieves claiming they only received a partial order, etc. Perhaps eBay should charge money to leave a negative feedback! Or require the buyer to go through square trade before leaving a negative. If I really was upset with a seller, I would pay the fee! eBay's feedback policy is a GUILTY UNTIL PROVEN INNOCENT policy, and it leaves most sellers unprotected.
Somehow stop unwarrented negative feedback
I see cases where a buyer has mulitple positive feedbacks from the same seller, and occasionally on the same item (I don't know how but it happens). It is often apparent this is to build up a buyers or sellers feedback points, and I would think ebay could automatically monitor and control this.
There should be the ability to change feedback if the situation changes (e.g., buyer pays for item).
I would like it to mean something to eBay. No matter how bad the feedback, how mean or unjust, it seems these Powersellers can get away with just about anything. It is always refreshing when a bad seller or buyer actually gets kicked off. But response to reported fraudulent behaviors are too often not investigated in a timely manner and then it does no good to complain. Feedback just becomes a useless tool. I would like to be able to click a button that would reveal all negative/neutral feedback at once. I sit and scan all sales when a seller has a poor feedback percentage compared to his number of sales, especially.
My biggest problem is non-paying bidders. If you leave them negative feedback you are likely to get retalitory feedback so you just let it go. There should be more control over situations like this. Sllers should not have to live in fear of their buyers.
Once a FVF is granted, the buyer should not be able to post feedback. A seller then would be able to post an appropriate negative to warn other sellers about the problem. Today, sellers will just file for their fees and many hesitate to post a negative because of the fear of a retaliatory negative.
My biggest problem is getting negatives and neutrals from buyers with problems who NEVER contacted me with their issue. Of all my negs and neutrals I can honestly say none have come from those who contacted me with a problem. I used to leave feedback immediately upon shipment and changed to when they leave feedback because of this issue. Noone seems to read the little blurb before leaving negatives about contacting your seller to work the issue out. No matter how many positives you have every little negative and neutral hurts.
Not sure how this can be accomplished.
There should be a way to remove retaliatory feedback. I also have had people tell Ebay that i hadn't paid them even after paying for and receiving the item because of bad feedback.
Have the ability to remove feedback from non-paying bidders.
Allow more space.
By not allowing a winning bidder to leave feedback until they have paid for an item. Until that time they have not "bought" into the transaction. I have 10 negs, 8 of them from npb's.
If a buyer does not fulfill their obligation to purchase an item, they should not be allowed to give feedback. Once an unpaid item is processed, they should be blocked from leaving feedback. A person should not have to pay to get a feedback reversed if the content is untrue or incorrect. How many sellers do not leave negative feedback for fear they will receive negative feedback that tarnishes their exceptional feedback record? I'll bet quite a few. This does not show the true picture of the person's feedback, when a seller goes to review it, and it also allows buyers to stay on eBay when perhaps they should be taken off. I feel this is a big problem. Although the system needs to be fair to both the buyer and seller, once a seller leaves a negative, a buyer should NOT be able to leave a retalitory feedback. If the buyer wishes to dispute the negative feedback they should have a means to do that.
NPB's should not be allowed to give feedback.
I'd show (alongside the feedback) a spot where the owner of the feedback could define their feedback policy or explain bad patches in their feedback (due to illness etc) so that potential trading partners knew better what to really expect.
There should be a process to show that feedback that was negative was unjustified. Unjustified negative feedback should be removed.
A greater effort to screen out those who use multiple screen id's for "cover". Some descretion on Ebay's part so they can substitute HUMAN judgement for arbitrary rules when appropriate. A sense that Ebay had greater (dare I say some?) concern for the welfare of its sellers in addition to its buyers.
If there was some way a buyer had to contact a seller before they could leave negative feedback, I think it would help a tremendous amount. The negative feedback I have would have never happened if it had not been a new user with no experience leaving it before they think. I refund money to anyone who is dissatisfied for any reason so there would never be any reason for an honest person to leave negative feedback. It is almost always the new ebay user that fires off.
Create a tab or link that would allow a viewer to see all of a person's negative and neutral feedback together rather than having to page through their feedback to find the negatives and neutrals to see what sort of reports are being made about that person.
Make it easier for a person to downgrade feedback that they have left after they have cooled down. Perhaps one step - from negative to neutral, or neutral to positive. Have different catagories --- non paying bidder non shipping seller broken merchandise merchancise not as advertised, so that others could easier tell why they are dissapointed
need to eliminate a buyer that does not complete a sale from making a feedback
Don't allow buyers to leave feedback if a NPB report has been filed against them. I have only 1 negative in over 4900 transactions...that one negative was left by someone who didn't bother to pay for their 99 cent item. I don't think I should have a negative on my record because someone didn't pay and I filed the NPB against them. That's not fair.
It would be better if it were easier to remove negative feedback.
I'd change the way negatives affect the overall score
Make negative and neutral comments easier to find from among all of a buyer or seller's feedback. It's much harder to find the neg or neutral comments since eBay changed the Feedback Page a year or so ago. It used to be possible to do a word search for the words "neutral" or "negative." Now those comments are identified only by gray or red dots -- sometimes hard to find when scanning a feedback page. eBay should also provide space for more detailed comments.
There have been countless cases where a seller has a pattern of fraud in his feedback. Ebay continues to let fraudulent seller do business because overall feedback is "adequate" although he should get banned.
Have a reminder system to remind people when they have more than 2 feedback they need to leave.
I would make anyone new to ebay take a class in how to leave feedback and the appropriate comments to make and a stern warning not to leave a negative without giving the seller a chance to work a problem out, if there is a problem. I would not allow a buyer who had been NARU'ed to leave feedback at all, even if they got reinstated. I would make every feedback count even if they are buyers of multiple items.
It would helpful if eBay sent a reminder e-mail to the buyer/seller if they haven't posted feedback for the respective buyer/seller 30-60-90 days after the transaction.
Better understanding of the system. Most bad feedback's I've received have been from those who have no understanding of the system. i.e. Book buyer rating the story content of the book and not the transaction. Which leads to the need for ebay to have negative feedbacks removed from halfcom transactions, via squaretrade.
A complusory email before buyers and sellers can leave negative feedback would be good. After this time period of, eg, 48 hours before they are able to leave a neg. That way at least the other party would have some opportunity to rectify the problem, perhaps offer refund etc.
not sure, but it should be changed
give the person receiving the feedback more space to write a response. Also better communication with ebay to deal with feedback extortion and revenge feedbacks. eBay doesn't care about these things and so libellous feedbacks are left on the user's feedback profile for ever, destroying their online reputation.
I feel points should be given for EACH transaction even when it is a REPEAT BUYER, as it is a SEPERATE transaction. This part of the feedback system I have never understood. I may work with a buyer and then 2 years later again but do not receive any points. Not fair if you ask me.
A check needs to be put in place to at least delay non-paying bidders who try to leave negative feedback. A system not unlike Square Trade could intervene and require the buyer to justify the attempt to leave Neg feedback if the seller has filed for FVF credit. As it is, sellers can have their reputation unjustly blemished by malicious users. Ann Hayes Zarzuella Books
Total number should reflect repeat buyers as well, or there should be two numbers behind your name . . . about half my sales are from repeat buyers - I see this as a MAJOR POSITIVE! Remove negative feedback if member is NARU.
Ebay should not allow non-paying bidder/buyers to leave feedback at all! I received a neg this month from a buyer with only 4 feedback who never even paid for the item! She stated 'wasn't happy' because I refused to ship the item to her at my expense!
Non-paying bidders must be barred from leaving ANY feedback. Prior to negative feedback being posted, the writer must be diverted to e-mail and be required to contact the trading partner to resolve issue. Only when efforts to resolve the problem fail, should negative feedback be pernitted.
As a seller, I get many new buyers that bid and don't pay. I'm in for the long run. The newbe won't make the year. If you look at people's neg's most are given by newbe's. I have one neg, given in a transaction that I lost $120.00 on, as a seller. I like your column !!
Once a final value fee credit is received by the seller, I don't think that the NPB should be able to leave FB. Also, just like it shows how many bid retractions, eBay should show how many times the bidder was a Non paying bidder.
Feedback can be unwarrented and I think that there shoud be more free third party involvement. I was given bad feedback for an item I didn't even sell! The customer bought several CD's from another seller and was careless when she left me a feedback, thinking I had sold her one of those. It wrecked my 100% good feedback rating. She would not even respond to fair trade!!!! I was destroyed for 2 weeks!!!!
First of all there should be in place a way that if a buyer has not paid within 7 days they are unable to leave feedback, so as a seller you can then leave neg feedback if they dont pay without the worry of them neg you when its them who hasnt paid, this will limit the wasters on the site.
I would find a way to make it a little harder to leave negative feedback
Introduce a process for leaving negative feedback, similar to that used for unpaid item disputes. This would ensure that negative fedback cannot be left accidentally and would give buyer and seller an opportunity to resolve matters before negative feedback is added to the buyer's or seller's profile.
I hate to say this, but I have often thought about no longer leaving negative feedback to NPB in fear of retaliation. There are numerous PowerSellers out there who have 1000's of transactions and a 100 % FB score. My feeling sais they use the same Policy. However this means that the eBay FB system is no longer reliable and meaningfull, since it does not reflect what sellers really experience. eBay should protect their sellers better against retaliatory FB
Some way to control retalitory feedback.
be able to view just neut & neg fb w/o using 3rd party tool;fb reminder system;ability to edit or change fb comments or rating;reminder notices when fb hasn't been left;notified when fb has been received;"cooling off" period b4 neut or neg fb is actually posted to member profile
I wish I could MAKE everyone send feedback whether they are a seller or a buyer and even if it is not the best, I sometimes just say, thank you item arrived as I don't want to say anything negative unless it was really necessary. But I have bought from very new folks and it has worked better than some of the one's with a gazillion feedback :).
Allow the Feedback number beside id to show total feedback and show No. of unique users on summary page.as a true reflection of the seller/buyer activity on ebay and not have to look at summary page also give new recognition icons for how many the ebay id has sold or bought.
Feedback can not br left when a person has been NARd, or clearly has a FVF filed against them.
Create a service to investigate retaliation feedbacks.
Once a non baying bidder is found justified ebay should leave feedback that says this person was found to be a bon payingin bidder on this item. I think it would solve alot of the hostal feedback because there would be no question or dought that one or the other is being untruthful. Should be more like yahoo not a one time deal. if corrected. you would see replys
Have a system to remove retaliatory feedback, and contest feedback (other than square trade). More space for each feedback entered.
Any retalitory feedback (that can be proved by the seller) should be removed within 2 days.
there should be a method to review and remove feedback without it being a costly process for the parties and a unreasonable profit maker for ebay
Non-paying bidder feedback should not be eligible for retaliatory feedback. Buyer should be blocked from leaving feedback for that transaction. Untrue feedback should be removed without fees.
I WOULD MAKE IT CHANGEABLE SO THAT THE PERSON WHO LEAVES IT CAN EASILY EDIT IT
Ebay already has steps to remind folks to LEAVE feedback. Maybe they could send nagging emails. I used to email buyers, asking if their item ever arrived, as a subtle hint to leave feedback. Most folks just ignored me so I stopped going to the extra trouble.
I think ebay needs to offer more ways to get feedback removed. If someone doesn't pay for something they won, they can still leave feedback and that is wrong. Since they did not pay, I have the right to warn other sellers about this bidder by leaving a negative, but the bidder should NOT be able to leave ME a negative when he/she didn't even pay. I think ebay should also investigate retalitory feedback a bit better. If someone disagrees with shipping, etc and the info is clearly stated in the auction, the bidder should not be allowed to use that against the seller in feedback. It's not the seller's fault the bidder can't read.
Never allow NPB's to leave Retaliatory FB!
LOVE THE NEW MUTUAL FEEDBACK REMOVAL! WOULD LIKE TO SEE ONLY ONE NEG PER PERSON ALLOWED - NOT 6 BUYS AT ONCE = 6 NEGS AT ONCE. LONGER REPLY TO FEEDBACK SECTION ( MORE CHARACTERS ALLOWED ) NPB'S SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO LEAVE FEEDBACK... ONCE A NPB ALERT IS SENT - LOCK THEM OUT SO NO RETALIATION FB CAN BE LEFT.
If a non paying bidder alert has been filed, the buyer should be unable to leave feedback. Once it is filed Ebay should have their system programed so they are unable to retaliate with negative feedback.I am a power seller and 90% of all of my negative feedback is retailiation from non paying bidders. It is very unfair!!!!
restrict people's ability to bid on auctions if they have more than 10 auctions they have not left a feedback response. with the high fees that ebay charges sellers there should be a dept to investigate & suspend retalitory feedback practices.
REtaliatory feedback should be verified & withdrawn by a feedback committee that is established for just this kind of thing. Also, untrue and unfair feedback should be able to be appealed.
I would not allow non-paying bidders to leave feedback for sellers. This is absurd to me and results in sellers leary of leaving appropriate feedback for non-payers because of the chance of retaliatory feedback. I would stress the importance of feedback to new eBayers, explaining the importance of it for sellers and teach them how to do it. I would stress the importance to new eBayers of using negative feedback as a last resort, to explore all other avenues of working out their transactions before leaving feedback, that premature negative feedback results in less liklihood of completing the transaction. I don't think people should be able to lie in feedback, but I don't know how one would go about policing this. Hateful feedback should be removed, there should be a modicum of civility, facts only accepted. Feedback threats and/or feedback extortion should be taken more seriously.
No NPB should be allowed to leave FB period. If they don't pay, it is not a completed trx. Next, I would count FB for EACH TRX that eBay has charged the seller for. As it is, repeat business for great svc adds NOTHING to either the buyer or seller FB which is wrong. It is like being penalized for drawing repeat business. If they charged me a FVF, then that FB should count, not just unique IDs.
When a negative feedback is removed from one's record, everything related to that negative feedback should be removed too, both in ratings and in the comment section. Also, as a buyer, I would like to see an option to pull up only the negative feedbacks left for any one seller/buyer, instead of having to hunt them down in the list. Being able to read the circumstances of the negatives helps me make a decision on whether or not it seems safe to buy.
To have a review board evaluate and revise feedback when warranted!
People with a lot of negative feedback can make their feedback private, which puts the buyer at a disadvantage. There are several power sellers that do this and continue to swindle people out of money. Ebay does nothing to prevent this and continues to let them operate which puts the buyer at risk. People with excessive negative feedback should be removed, even if they are a power seller.
I received negitive feedback thar was an obvious error (was for shoes but I had sold knives) but still had to pay 20.00 to have it removed. Should be another way.
Assuming that all of the feedback is actually from people other than sending it your self, I would say that the feedback pertaining to whom I have bought from seems to be mostly accurate.
If a buyer has not paid then they should not be able to leave feedback... it makes it risky to file for fees if the nonpayer can leave negative feedback if you do. Obviously if the buyer uses payPal that would be proof as would the seller using the print label option for mailed payments.
I have no ideas
give sellers an option to not sell to buyers with 0 or negative feedback
Allow edits under defined circumstances.
Neutralize retalitory feedback. When it is probable, delete it.
honest and professional buyers and sellers will have no problem with the current feedback system.... in effect it keeps all parties on their toes.... feedback problems are often brought on by inexperienced buyers / sellers playing around on eBay..... and / or acting in an unprofessional manner.... there are nutty people out there and the feedback system has empowered them , these have to be weeded out and dealt with ... a huge number of sellers on eBay are amateurs ( and unprofessional ) and in effect are learing by their mistakes....
Maybe have more than 3 levels of feedback. If you have 10 levels, people would give more of an honest opinion since receiving "8, or 9, out of 10" would not be viewed as being bad. Under the current system, even neutrals cause buyers and sellers to get upset. I have been fortunate to have no negatives after 4,000 transactions, but know one will come someday. Thanks for listening, Uffdahhh
I think perhaps just a count of completed transactions.
automated ebay feedback reminder generated by seller to buyer after 30 days, transaction completed.
Retaliatory feedback is a big deterrent against leaving honest feedback. I often leave good feedback for people who were not very good sellers (shody goods or very slow shipping), just so they won't leave bad feedback for me when I've always done everything correctly. I don't know what the cure would be but there needs to be some protection when a buyer pays right away. Maybe they should get automatic good feedback when paying through Paypal within a given period of time - their part is done. But then that doesn't protect the seller against a mean spirited buyer. I never leave feedback for a buyer unless they leave it for me first, otherwise I am too vulnerable without recourse. *shrugs* Dunno of a solution.
Require both buyers and sellers to submit some kind of feedback on all transactions and suspend repeat offenders. Require buyers to leave feedback before the seller. Put both buyers and sellers on probation when their positive feedback % that is below 95%. Suspend them, if it does not improve.
Work with Sellers/Buyers to remove undeserved feedbac---ie--if a buyer has not contacted or given the seller an opportunity to correct any problem. Also I have found that New Players sometimes don't know how to leave feedback--ie--often leave Netural instead of Positive. If a transaction does not feedback left after 30-60 days--it should actomaticly be considered a positive transaction and appropiate feedback given to both parties.
Stop NBP from leaving feedback once the UID is filed.
More space for comments!
1) Not allow non paying bidders to leave feed back. 2) make it easier to get retalitory feedback off of ones record. 3) If a bidder has 3 negs in a month - they need to be cut off. also something similar for sellers . be able to remove when a newby writes really dumb comments in the feedback using a neutral rating- like fast shipping, good quality item but, my dog doesn't like it. etc
There are times when a feedback is left and it should be rectified. I have two negatives on my account that could not be removed although there were unwarranted. The first was from someone who didn't read the description and admitted her mistake. The second was from a buyer who bid on several items and did not pay for any of them. They then proceeded to leave negatives for everyone they had a transaction with. It was the only buyer that had a negative rating that I saw. eBay refused to do anything about the buyer or the feedback when contacted.
NPBs should have feedback that they have left removed if a strike is assigned
Stop the retaliatory feedback after you've filed for Fee Credit. Encourage sellers & buyer to be more honest about transactions. Now they're too scared of retaliatory feedback.
Provide the option of viewing only negative and neutral feedback.
I would re-evaluate the reasoning behind allowing NPB to leave feedback. I know the rationale is that a seller might make a false claim, keep the money and not send the item, BUT HOW OFTEN DOES THAT REALLY HAPPEN??? Is it more than one tenth of one percent of the number of non-paying bidders? And when there are so many other ways to remedy such situations, which are criminal acts, isn't this a bit defeating to continue with the policy when the NPBuyers greatly out number of sellers who resort to this sort of crime???
The biggest problem with eBay's feedback system in my opinion is that they allow NPB's to still leave feedback for a seller. If they would disallow a NPB to leave feedback I believe more sellers would leave honest feedback making the feedback system more reliable.
Bring feedback link back to the auction page as well as most other pages. Have to find it now.
Not sure how to change it, but when negative feedback is left for the seller when it is the delivery company who has upset the buyer--late, damaged goods, etc. there should be someone or something that can "judge". also, you lose a rating when you get a negative feedback--deserved or not. the neg feedback is bad enough! the only way to get your neg feedback changed is mutual withdrawal (complicated and dealing with a buyer who is mad??) or paying 20.00 dollars for mediation with no guarantee of removal--ridiculous.
It is a pain in the !!!! but I guess it is necessary
I would block retaliatory feedback.
Separate buy vs. sell more clearly or easily; somehow prevent fake/extra ID feedback; have eBay automatically remind buyers to leave feedback 30 days after end of auction.
eBay tends to overlook power sellers with negative feedback. I have seen people booted off eBay if they reach the magic number of 4 negatives becuase they aren't power sellers. Ebay used to look out for the strong base of smaller sellers and buyers. It is all about the money now and isn't nearly as friendly as it was in the early years. I think it's great that they have prospered, but they have gone way over the top in many ways.
remove NPB ability to leave negatives.
Allow each feedback to count toward total FB, rather than just one per unique user.
Accounts should be suspended much faster than they are. Bay needs to monitor people who just set up new IDs after receiving lots of negatives. eBay should NEVER wipe out seller's Blocked Bidder lists since this is the most important protection we have!
There is no way to get rid of retaliatory feedback. The other party maybe suspended and who knows if they show up again with all ne name, etc. I have lost money several times and end up with the neg.
For many international buyers having items shipped by sea can take longer than 90 days so feedback cannot be left whether it arrives safely or not at all. Retaliation feedback is a buyer's or seller's greatest fear and Ebay should evaluate whether feedback is just retaliation and have it removed. I have had a few non paying bidders and not left negative feedback in fear of retaliation.
ONE GUY BID ON 3 BUY IT NOW AUCTIONS THEN IM'D ME AND THREATEND NEG UNLESS I GAVE A FREE ITEM. LESS THAN 30 MIN AFTER AUCTION ENDED HE GAVE ME 3 NEGS. NEVER PAID AND WAS NERUD A WEEK LATER. EBAY WOULD NOT REMOVE NEGS, EVEN THOUGH 12 OTHER SELLERS HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE GUY, AND ALSO CONTACTED THEM. HE BID ON THE SAME TYPE ITEMS AND HE KEPT CHANGING NAMES, BUT EBAY DID NOTHING. ALSO, WHY SHOULD MULTI POS FROM SAME BUYER COUNT AS ONE . BUT MULTI NEGS COUNT AS MULTI NEGS???
eBay should monitor ALL sellers and buyers. Dump the lame feedback platform.
Seller must post feedback first --- once payment is made, what more can buyer do to earn feedback? As well as 'sheilding', it is 'retaliatory feedback' to require buyer to act first. Both parties blocked from furhter dealing if feedback * than 90 days. Messier than now, but better reflection of transactions.
eBay cannot improve its feedback system. Users must improve their use of it. 1) Always leave feedback promptly. 2) Always be honest & fair in feedback. 3) Never leave positive feedback or no feedback out of fear of retaliatory feedback. Feedback is NOT a matter of life, death, or broken teeth!
Should be a way for unwarranted negative feedbacks to be removed. The person who leaves the neg should have to contact the person he is unhappy with to make sure they are aware of the problem.
It's the people that are bad, not the system, but I don't know how to remedy that.
No feedback permitted for Non Paying Bidders. No feedback permitted for Non Performing Sellers. Feedback left for others should be wiped off when a buyer/seller becomes unregistered.
I think it is great the way it is,new people to on line auctions tend to leave a negative feedback way too soon, they don't try and contact the seller first to see if things can be worked out before a negative is left.People forgetting to leave feedback is a problem also.
A good feedback system depends on those who use it. I'm not sure that eBay could change anything to motivate people, both sellers and buyers, to leave honest & accurate feedback.
Regardless of the legitimacy of your complaint , to register it in the form of negative feedback begets certain negative feedback in return . Regardless of how badly the transaction goes everything is always beautiful and nothing hurts.
Block NPB, or any buyer involved in UPI from leaving feedback; REQUIRE seller leave feedback before PERMITTING buyer feedback. (Too many sellers won't leave feedback, even if you pay immediately UNLESS/UNTIL you leave POSITIVE feedback for them)...feedback extortion in my opinion.
Don't know.
Not really sure. It's probably a lot to ask but if there was any way they could monitor the people who leave retaliatory feedback. Maybe some sort of tracking system. I can tell just by looking a people's feedback history if they are notorious at leaving retaliatory feedback when they do not adhere to terms of sale or get their way. It's too bad there isn't some sort of checks and balances put into place for this.
When an FVF is filed, lock the bidder out of Retaliatory feedback; If you neg me, automatically add your sorry userid to my Bidder Block list. Leaving a Neg automatically Blocks individuals from mutual transactions.
It would be nice to get a heads up before a neg, so I can try to fix the problem.
buyer should not be able to leave negative feedback before paypal acknowledge payment. this way, deadbeat could not hurt the seller if they (deadbeat) are given a negative for non-payment. so many sellers are afraid to leave negative feedback to deatbeat..it's a shame because this information would be usefull for other members.
Someone who does NOT complete an auction should NOT have the opportunity to leave feedback. Also, buyers tend to use the negative feeback option as a bargaining tool to get more of a refund (if there was a problem with the item or with "claims" that the item is damaged). The buyer and seller shouldn't have so much control...it should only reflect the business transaction itself not personal feelings that vary from person to person.
When a buyer or seller is about to leave neutral or negitive feedback they should have to contact the buyer or seller first with any and all problems, instead of jumping on feedback first!
I would not allow Non Paying Bidders to leave feedback.
I think if a person is a non paying bidder they should not be permitted to record feedback period. They don't pay, the seller loses out and then the leave a negative. I also think you should be able to sort the negatives and neutrals easily to see what a person has. The current system makes it too hard/long to review the negative feedback
If you sell exactly what you describe, you shouldn't have a feedback problem!! Too many people do shoddy business and then complain about their feedback. Buyers are going to complain if you don't treat them right.
people who have less than 10 rating should not be able to leave negs.
Make it possible to remove retaliatory feedback
I feel there should be a number choices to choose from when leaving feedback like the choices in the above question, i.e. "Excellent, Very Good, Adequate, Fair and Poor." Many times I do not want to leave negative feedback, but, and not thrilled with dealing with the customer or seller. I also prefer when we could respond to negative feedback. Now we are almost forced to join square trade which is another expense just to have our say.
I would take away the ability for a NPB to leave feedback on uncompleted sales.
Non-paying buyers should be locked out of leaving feedback associated with the specific listing once the FVF is credited to the seller's account.
So glad you asked! I would have chosen "excellent", but they need to address the retaliatory feedback problem. Once a non-paying bidder has ignored the ebay alert(7 days)and the seller receives the FAV credit & leaves appropriate negative feedback for that transaction, I believe that item should be removed immediately from the buyer's feedback list. That would eliminate retaliatory remarks. It's done that way with those who are no longer registered members so why not with feedback?
Make it mandatory on most transaction if not all. Allow for things like neutrals to be changed with joint agreement. I just got an AA++ in neutral. I am sure the user made a mistake. No need to pursue it. Can't change it.
a buyer could not leave feedback if they had any filings of unpaid auctions or transactions.
find some way to prevent retaliatory feedback or feedback extortion. never been a problem for me but obviously it is for many people
Not allow bidders who did not pay for an item leave Feedback for a Seller.
Use a Rating system - 0-5 with 5 being best, 0 being the worst. Ebay then could show total transactions the individual has and a average of the total points received against transactions. Feedback then could show number given for each rating point rather than number of negatives, neutrals, positives. Far more accurate.
Not allowing Non Paying Bidders to leave feedback.
Run it through a third party (non eBay-related) service that would verify and/or arbitrate any negative transactions before neg feedback was ever allowed to be posted.
It would be nice to modify feedback you left - sometimes things work out and sometimes it would be nice to fix it up if you left feedback by accident not realizing you had the wrong person.
