Natick Firm Publishes New Online Auction Newsletter: AuctionBytes.com

November 8, 1999, Natick, Mass.– In a move that epitomizes how the Internet has changed the way companies do business, a Natick, Massachusetts, publishing company has decided to use the topic of their publication as a vehicle for kicking it off. AuctionBytes.com newsletter debuted today with the announcement of a 10-day Dutch auction on eBay, an Internet auction site. Ten high bidders will receive a one-year subscription to this new newsletter about online auctions. The Dutch auction will start on November 11, 1999, and will end on November 21, 1999. Bidding starts at $9.99. Normally, a one-year subscription costs $29.99, and a special introductory price of $24.99 is in effect until March 1, 2000.

"AuctionBytes.com gives readers practical advice on the online auction buying and selling process. We thought it was only natural that it should be christened on an auction site," stated Ina Steiner, editor of AuctionBytes.com. "The number of people using online auctions sites is growing exponentially. There's a real need for practical information about this exciting e-commerce venue."

Ina and David Steiner, a husband and wife team, got the idea for the newsletter in August after discovering online auction sites. David Steiner, a video producer in the Boston area, needed to sell an expensive piece of professional video equipment. After unsuccessfully trying traditional methods, a colleague told him about eBay, where Steiner proceeded to sell the equipment in 10 days for a price that he was very happy with. "I was astounded that I could sell a high-ticket item costing thousands of dollars so easily and quickly. I admit, I had been skeptical. It was the first time I had used an online auction site. But the transaction went so smoothly, I was hooked," said David.

David Steiner founded Steiner Associates in 1988 and produces corporate training and marketing videos with clients that include GE Plastics, Searle Pharmaceutical, Owens-Corning, numerous broadcast stations and affiliates and Healthwood of Wayland, Mass. Steiner Associates also works with Complete World Media and Provision Media, both headquarted in Natick.

Ina Steiner has a 14-year background in marketing, with 9 of those years spent at BiblioData, a Needham, Mass., publishing company. Ina earned her MBA from Simmons College Graduate School of Management with highest honors in 1993.

A preview issue of AuctionBytes.com newsletter is available for free on the AuctionBytes.com Web site at http://www.auctionbytes.com and features an interview with top online auction sellers who share their secrets of success. A monthly column called Collector's Corner offers advice from experienced collectors on using online auction sites to buy and sell collectibles.

AuctionBytes.com is published monthly, ten times a year. Volume 1, Number 1, will be available in January 2000. There's no need to wait until November 11th for the auction—you can order a subscription to AuctionBytes.com by visiting the AuctionBytes.com Web site at http://www.auctionbytes.com. Simply print out the order form and send it along with a check or money order to AuctionBytes.com, c/o Steiner Associates, PO Box 668, Natick, MA 01760.
