    eBay issued a press release announcing its Kijiji classifieds site in the US has turned one.Another eBay press release announced that Giving Works, its charitable giving program, is celebrating its 5-year anniversary and has raised more than $150 million for global causes through charity listings on eBay. Finally, eBay's PayPal unit issued a press release on Monday touting its 10th anniversary.

    It's official, Kijiji is eBay's new venture. eBay issued a press release Tuesday 7 hours after AuctionBytes outed (in the U.S.) its new international classifieds site called Kijiji. What's most intriguing about the announcement is the news that eBay launched an entrepreneurial unit in December headed by Eskander E. Kazim.

    The Wall Street Journal website reported on Tuesday evening that eBay will acquire additional classified-ad sites, targeting those with leading positions in geographies and industry segments in which eBay doesn't currently compete.     eBay's Kijiji international classifieds group announced Wednesday it has acquired Gumtree.com (www.gumtree.com) and LoQUo.com (www.loquo.com), two separate classifieds Web sites operating in select international cities. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

  6. Kijiji May Become 'eBay Classifieds' in the States
    eBay will test the name "eBay Classifieds" on its Kijiji classifieds site in two U.S. cities, San Antonio and Pittsburgh. The test starts later this week, according to eBay's corporate blog. AuctionBytes broke the news of Kijiji's existence in international markets 4 years ago, but eBay waited until the summer of 2007 before launching Kijiji in the U.S.

  7. eBay Launches Kijiji in US, Contextual Ads Key to Classifieds Strategy
    Despite owning a stake in the popular classifieds site Craigslist, eBay has rolled out its international classifieds service in the US. The Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday that Kijiji.com is free, but quoted a spokesperson saying eBay will explore revenue models such as charging for display ads or premium services. However, eBay is monetizing its other classifieds sites through contextual advertising using Google.
