Please advise about Buy Safe, BBB online, and Square Trade, as to how effective they are in raising credibility online with eBay, freestanding websites, etc.
Your help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Hi Dan,
How've you been.
I used BuySafe when I was on TIAS, and also used them for a Bonded Auction a couple of years ago.
I did not think it made any difference.
As a coin dealer, you may want to invest in some sort of Safe Branding like BBB or the such to add to your credibility and trustworthyness.
My best,

Hello again, Dana!
I recently moved to LA, keeping my place in Boston, so now I am
officially bicoastal, which will be nice in the Winter. I am in LA
now and do not miss the constant rainy New England weather.
It must rain in Boston about 2 or 3 days a week. The dry
SoCal climate is quite refreshing, as is reaquainting myself with
old friends.
Yeah, I can see your point about BBB online and Buy Safe not
making a difference for you, BUT, as you stateds, coin buyers
just might want that self assurance.
The TIAS.com people turned out to be two-faced, dishonorable,
paranoid, dichotomous, totally self serving, and just plain not
good people. I treated them quite nicely, giving them money for
sales I did not consummate. It is better sooner rather than later to find out the true colors of a business entity. For now on, it will be my website and only my websire for me.
Dana, Have a great Summer, with lots of fun and a modicum of
textile biz.
All the best,
Dan |

| I looked into those services and cannot say anything positive about them. In fact, I had a very bad experience as a bidder on a BuySafe auction so I often will not bid on an auction if it from one of their customers. |

Country Joe,
IMO, some people are paranoid about getting cheated on the internet. The folks who spend thousands seem to be okay to deal with.
For some reason, the smaller the transaction, in my experience,
the more problematic the deal will be.
I guess the bigger fish don't sweat the small stuff, which, perhaps,
may be the way they swam to the top of the food chain.
The little guys treat a $20 or $50 or $100 deal like it is larger than life.
I will be scaling down my low end items are sometimes, less is more.
Perhaps coins and antiques and jewelry and fine art are much different than $5 to $50 collectibles. Maybe not.
As for BBB online, I have noticed that some quasi nebulous internet dealers join, which goes to show you that any business
may give their customers the business better, if you catch my
drift.
My love/hate association with PayPal, dating back to 1999 and over 10,000 transactions, has morphed into a C Ya latitude and
attitude.
Hello Google Checkout! Free for 2007? Count me in!
A PayPal reversal from January to June was the frosting and not
on the cake.
I have been warned that PayPal can do whatever they want, and
the aforementioned PayPal acrobatic stunt supports thier premise.
Have a great Summer, everyone... |

Quick question, why is it that you never display a link to your shop in your postings or profile?
Advertising happens to be the best way to make sales and links to your shop helps your standing in the search engines. Plus maybe I would like to buy a coin or two.

Country Joe,
I have taken a position with PandaAmerica Corp, a California coin company I worked at from 1989 to 1999. My old boss retired and two of my former co-workers bought the business.

| I got ripped off by Memoryman on Ebay and after 8 months of filing for his bond I finally gave up. They are crooks as well as Memoryman on ebay. Try googling Memoryman and you will see what I mean. |

I have used BuySafe since it was offered on AntiqueArts, It helps some people feel safer, but has it helped alot? Probably not, I haven't decided if I want to ditch them yet or not. I think having a phone number that people can call (and they do) does more to make people comfortable with you than a label, though for newbies, the label probably makes them feel better, old internet hands I imagine ignore it. Square trade is totally worthless IMHO. _________________ fine antique linens and lace
