In Sunday's AuctionBytes-Update newsletter, Mark O'Neill takes a look at some image-hosting services:

If you'd like to share an image hosting company that you use and would recommend to others, let us know!

I host my own auction images--until recently I owned a web hosting company which I still manage marginally. I also still maintain multiple servers for my own use and have disk space and bandwidth to spare. I would be willing to provide 20MB of free, no-strings-attached (no back-linking, watermarks, etc.) image hosting to users of AuctionBytes or their associates with a bandwidth limit of 2GB per month (about 104,000 views of a 20kb image). Images would have to be legal, of course.

If interested, send me a private message.

If this is considered advertising and frowned upon, I apologize! It really is just a free offer.

Hi

I've been selling on Ebay, as a hobby, for about 8 years. We host our own images on our server at http://www.pics-plus.com. I serve as the customer service rep and provide excellent, PROMPT communication, should customers have (problems = very few) or questions about Ebay or our service. We have VERY little, if any, downtime. Our long-time customers will be happy to provide feedback of their satisfaction with our service. Some have had their images hosted on their Ebay pages, etc. for years, uninterrupted. We proudly provide service to customers all over the world.
Ebay provides one FREE image, but quality of image is unsatisfactory. Other services limit the time that images can be hosted. We don't! Other services go down more often than expected. We rarely do - Our uptime ranges between 99.9 - 100%. If you want reliable, friendly image hosting, and need moe info, check us out! - http://www.pics-plus.com
My user ID on Ebay is ucanbid
Thanks for providing this opportunity to describe our service.

I tried the link for imageshack in the image hosting article . Out of curiosity, I uploaded an image to see how it worked. When I clicked on the thumbnail to see my photo, I received a warning from Spybot that there was a registry entry on my computer was being changed. I am not sure what that means but is Image Shack downloading spyware to users' computers? If so, people using the link should be warned about it.. Louis

I have been with inkfrog.com since Photopoint went under. I have seen them grow and grow and all and all a positive experience for me. I would recommend them.
I don't use their auction services, just their image hosting.
My best,
Dana

I just did a search of my files and found a file labled owner@imageshack[1].txt that I did not intentionally download. The file contained numerical 'code". I have deleted that file and don't think I will visti that site again. .. Louis

I have been using photobucket.com for a long time. Their interface is very easy, pic quality is awesome and fast, and their price is very reasonable. For their free service you will have to endure advertising but Firefox blocks it all so it is still a snap to use. Plenty of bandwidth as well for the free service.

Since reading more on this site and others about people out there looking for image hosting I decided to register a separate domain for the free image hosting. There are some pay options explained on the site, but the basic account, with 20MB of disk space and 2GB of data transfer is FREE with NO strings attached--just the request for a little patience in case I get slammed with requests.

http://nucite.net

This site has just been launched. We feel it easily rivals many of the competitors. It is unique in many ways including a wonderful auction creator tool.

We have have posted a new topic for Nucite.Net in this forum. We hope to get as much useful feedback there as possible. Visit that posting here:

Thank you in advance for your help!

I tried at least six services and all them were problematic. The best was myphotospace. The issues I ran into were the inablity to easily update files with the same name, lots of downtime for many, lack of customer support, uploading software that was not user-friendly. I could go on. So now I just use the free 25 meg provided with my email account at Comcast.

I use Vendio to list my auctions and host my photos and they now offer a service to just host photos. I believe it is very reasonable for an unlimited amount of photos. Vendio used to be called Auction Watch. I have been with them for a number of years and have been very satisfied with their services. S

I use Collector Warehouse

http://www.collectorwarehouse.com

Five bucks a year for 5 megs of storage space. You can use FTP or their web based tool to upload pictures.

They also have more space if you need it and e-mail addresses.

I've been using ebay for a couple of years and, being in the computer industry, have always been able to find some space somewhere to host my images. I decided to create my own place that I could use to keep them - and also to practice my coding skills. That place is http://www.filehigh.com

It kind of grew from a place to keep a few images into a full site with quite a few users now. It is not aimed solely at the ebay market now, but there are quite a few users who use it for that.

If you would like to use it too, its free, you get 5 Mb of storage and 250 Mb of bandwidth a month.
