Personally , I prefer to host my site OFF ebays for several reasons.

Ebays is having trouble maintaining it's current stores.(gallery images are always disappearing; they claim , they are working on it ; I continue to check seller store items daily and find 2-4 dozen images missing that were there the day before- and then spend time having to re-submit the images to ebays gallery]

Ebays "policies" concerning what is acceptable & what isn't ,
are unclear; yet they continue to enforce it in their hap-hazard mannner for the last several years.
( they never clearly state how they decide what items to cancel or why]
As long as they end items without clearly explaining to the seller what exactlly was the problem, I wouldn't want them deciding that my web site isn't acceptable from week to week on vague canned emails.

if someone buys from my web site , I get their email information
for my records so I can clearly communicate with that buyer .
If ebays hosted my site, eventually I forsee them only sending user id's , which I find ridiculous. Why should I have to log into MY EBAYS to get buyer information to send them invoices?
It's just one more place to have to handle email through.
Does anyone need more email to check?

Plus my web host company offers space allot lower than ebays will, and has full support when things aren't working properly.
Customer service at ebays is an oxymoron - why have them host your web site if you have to email them your site is down and wait up to 72 hours for them to send you a canned reply?

Lastly, I don't want anyone telling me how I can accept payments.
that question has been included in several ebay surveys in the last years.]
It's only a matterof time before they decide sellers must offer paypal , in my opinion.

that's my 2 cents

previous posts sounds like commentary about ebay.com and their ebay stores. ProStores, although not ready, would not have same type of rules that eBay.com has. I think that needs to be made clear. From talking with an early adopter of ProStores, I've been told that they released it too early and have not worked out the bugs yet. So, while it is a potential platform for off-eBay.com sales, there are many more affordable and tested options out there.
