Paypal told me that they sent me 3 emails notifying me of the $20 fee that was being wavied until this month. Of course, I never received any of their emails and got a nasty surprise today. Anyone else not receive the 3 emails? Interestingly I spoke to another who not only got the emails but he got a phone call. We got nothing.

This is no news. If they sent you the 3 emails, you would have canceled the service and they would not have been able to charge you. Now they have your money and if you scream they will refund you. If you say nothing then they have your money. That could mean tens of thousands of dollars to a big company like ebay. Its called the early bill, double bill, no invoice charge. They did this scam to me this past month. I owed $50 on my ebay account. I payed via paypal on the 1st of the month (Dec 2005) . They invoiced me on the 5th. they where 5 days late with their email. Then they charged me $$50 on my credit card on the 20th. I contacted them for a refund and was told I would see a credit on my account. They said they will not refund my money. I reported this to state attorney office. I would think with as many times as I have called to report them and storys I have read here they would have thousands of complaints pending. When you are this much of a monopoly, you can get away with it. To much bad press will catch up with them

Ironically, I also have Verisign Virtual Terminal (Payflow Pro) which I get for at a 50% discounted price of $30 per month through a reseller. It normally costs $60 per month!

Even though Verisign is also a eBay company, they want me to pay for both gateways.

I have suspended my Paypal gateway but I will miss some of its features such as getting a credit back of all merchant fees on refunds, receiving an email reminding me of the payment, and having the ability to quickly look up information on a transaction by customer name through Paypal's limited search function.
