Psychopaths in the Workplace
Dr John Clarke
The majority of psychopaths are not serial killers or rapists; they’re colleagues, bosses and employees found in workplaces throughout the world. We’ll examine what a psychopath is, their personality styles, behaviours, interpersonal approaches and thought processes. You’ll learn how they infiltrate companies undetected and the strategies they use to manipulate those around them to achieve power and promotion. The course fee includes a copy of Dr John Clarke’s book The Pocket Psycho. (Warning: this course includes material that may confront some participants.)
9.00am – 5.00pm Saturday 15 November 2008
1 day $150 Course 08PPD508

Now there is an interesting course. Recommended for anyone contemplating becoming or remaining a member of eBay.

Some paragraphs from an interesting eBay Guide I stumbled across at:
http://reviews.ebay.com.au/Please-DO-NOT-feed-the-Trolls_W0QQugidZ10000000001660880

“Please DO NOT feed the Trolls ...

“Trolls see Internet communications services as convenient venues for their bizarre game. For some reason, they don’t “get” that they are hurting real people. To them, other Internet users are not quite human but are a kind of digital abstraction. As a result, they feel no sorrow whatsoever for the pain they inflict. Indeed, the greater the suffering they cause, the greater their ‘achievement’ (as they see it). At the moment, the relative anonymity of the net allows trolls to flourish.

“Trolls are utterly impervious to criticism (constructive or otherwise). You cannot negotiate with them; you cannot cause them to feel shame or compassion; you cannot reason with them. They cannot be made to feel remorse. For some reason, trolls do not feel they are bound by the rules of courtesy or social responsibility.”

Funny, I don't know where this person got his definition of "troll" from, but this is a description that I think suits perfectly the management team of an organisation that we all know well …
