|

Hi
this is my first time venturing out of the Tias Forum
I am expanding my eBay auctions and have a question about closing days....I notice that (if I read it correctly) the eBay calendar suggests best closing days are Thurdays and Sundays.
My husband buys a lot on eBay, and he says he thinks that the auctions close with higher prices on Saturdays, and that he finds more bargains on Sundays, so he thinks that is not a good day to close.
I would value the voices of experience giving me your views on this
thanks _________________

I would concur that Thursdays and Sundays are good closing days. But another thing to consider is the time you are closing. Evening hours are far better. We try to end ours between 7-8 P.M. PST.
Having said all that...a friend of mine...also an experienced eBay'er insists that one should NEVER end on Sundays! We disagree about that, but his sales do well, too!
Go ahead and try using your husband's data...I'd love to hear the results!
I'm assuming you would be selling similar items offered in your Tias storefront?
Anyhow...Good Luck!

Thanks for the input, buyersace.....
We have just started 68 auctions (phew!) with more to follow ....some ending on Thursday evening and some on Saturday.... so we shall see. We already got some bids so I am hopeful.
Yes, I am auctioning lots of my Tias and other inventory to get a cashflow going during these summer slump days.
Our eBay sales are independent ones under the seller name chemelmar.
thanks for the good wishes....I will post back to report how it goes. _________________

Your auctions look pretty good! And for just starting...your quantity is impressive, as well!
I would only make one suggestion. (I realize that you're just starting...so don't get too hasty....) After you get into a routine of listing and are comfortable with your listing quantity and your sales, etc... I would look into getting webspace...I.E. wein yourself off of the IPIX (eBay) photo hosting. I know the first one is free, but the photos look small and lack detail to anyone with a screen resolution of greater than 800X600. (Actually...my wife's machine is set to 800X600 and they look small on her machine, too)
This can add a bit of adjusting to the HTML used in your auctions, but using a bulk uploader, it wouldn't matter much. We lease 300 MB of online storage for about $23 per 100MB per year...FAR less than we would pay by even using one or two extra photos from IPIX. As far as the IPIX supersize....slide show....etc....they are just ebay revenue generating machines. Even the supersize can not be so "super" if you want to show extreme detail...like on jewelry, for instance. Using your own hosting, you have no limits.
Anyhow...just thought I'd drop in once again....
Hope all goes well!

I will pass on the photo tips to my husband...I am the technically challenged one....... Know my glass ok, but am the ultimate cyber-dummy
Here's hoping for some successful closings!
Thanks again for the advice. _________________

Cherri, Hello! My first time here too. I have been running my auctions using the TIAS technology so no charge for photos from eBay. Also I get lots of browsers coming into my store front from eBay! That is why you should connect them. Deb _________________

Hi Deb......
The glassware that I am auctioning is actually stuff my husband acquired, and so we are selling it together on eBay, independent of my store. The main reason was that extra 2% commission, which we just did not want to have to add in to the listing charges and eBay commissions. I do run some auctions from my store too, but found they didnt bring in nearly as much traffic as My About Me page does, so it works out pretty good doing it this way..........and with 88 auctions where some are getting good bids, that 2% sure adds up! And right now...I need every spare $$$.
All the best with your store. You really have some great stuff!
I used to have a large collection of Ndebele beadwork that I sold for excellent money on eBay last year. Also still have my collection of Zulu baskets, and lots of African Tribal beaded jewelry.
bye now _________________
