For me its Sunday evenings anywhere from 6 to 11 PM. I have found that there's more people online on Sunday evening.

I think the key word is "evenings." It doesn't seem sensible to end an auction at 10pm PST when the east and midwest have long since turned in. I've even seen auctions that ended in the wee hours, just because that's when the seller fired up to do listings, but buyers who are watching closely will get fed up if they have work/school/whatever in the morning.

As I live in UK I find, for local buyers, that Sunday evening is the best. However almost half my buyers come from outside of UK so for them my Sunday evening can be something quite different.

I think it depends on the items. I find that "guy" stuff ends best on a Sunday night. But "girl" stuff can end happily on Monday night.
And Thursday night seems good for anything, but not as good as Sunday or Monday. Also, because of these wonderful surveys, word gets around about Sunday evenings, and there's a lot of competition ending at the same time.

I have also found that for re-listing an item. Wait for 3 weeks and schedule it 12 hours different. If you listed it in the morning, list it in the evening next time. You get a different audience most of the time, and a sale.

Weekends and evenings are typically stronger, but the best time to end is on a daily basis, particularly near the holidays. As someone else mentioned, Sunday listings seem to flood the site and not as desirable as they once were.

I list almost 100% fixed priced listing - any day and time is perfect. It doesn't really matter.

While I agree that nights are the best time to end an auction, and perhaps the weekends are better sometimes, with a gazillion items just the same, using the right words in your title, and haveing a clear picture of adequet size is becoming most important.

I also list almost all fixed price, but I have found that I get a lot of eyeballs near the end of the listings, so I generally try to end them in the evenings.
I list in 8 "sets" containing between 10-20 auctions per set for every day of the week. This way my auctions "float" to a different ending day each week. Over 7 weeks, any given auction would have appeared on every day of the week.
I've been tracking sales for about a year now and break up the stats by season (since there are definite seasonal differences). During last summer, for example, my best days by far were Mon, Tue, and Weds. But in fall, Weds and Fri were best (Sunday was - by far - the worst). Recently, I'd say Sun, Weds, and Fri seem to be best.
As for time of day, daytimes (1pm-4pm EST) were on average BETTER ending times than evenings (7-10pm) during the summer months. But come Fall it went back to a normal 7-10pm hot time, with almost 20% more hits and sales around the 8pm mark than any other time.
Overall the best thing is to try lots of different times. I'll go for a week closing auctions in late afternoon - pick up a lot of young people then. I think the key is exposure - with fixed price, my goal is to show up during as many days and as many hours as possible when someone is doing a search - and most people seem to search by most recent ending times.

It's all about the product.
I used to be a 7-8PM PST Sun. Mon, Thurs.
Now, it does not matter anymore. |

I have noticed that during the weekends traffic to my auctions increase so does on Monday evening.
The best time to end usually is 6-9pm.. _________________ "An honest individual is satisfied with himself as much as others are satisfied with him."

Be careful not to end an auction during a big premier time...like the new episode of Sopranos or the Superbowl. I try to take holidays into consideration, too and not list on Labor Day or Memorial Day weekends when a lot of people are vacationing.
My best,
Dana
