eBay Sends Members from eBay to eLance Site

eBay introduced eBay's Services for Business Specialty Site. The page awkwardly marries listings from two eBay categories with links to the eLance Web site containing requests for bids from freelancers. The eBay listings are taken from eBay's "Computers: Services" category and "Everything Else: Services," both of which are filled with such diverse items as CDs, bubble wrap, and pornographic videos. The eLance tab takes you out of eBay's site and directly to the eLance site. eLance operates in a reverse manner of the eBay auctions: buyers on eLance describe the work they need done, and service providers bid to complete the project. eBay user names and passwords do not appear to work on the eLance site. eLance is privately-owned and has raised venture capital through Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Pequot Capital Management, Citigroup, Integral Capital Partners, and Charter Venture Group.
